(Two reasons for posting these questions:
(1) If someone is uncertain about they need to install these packages and (2) because I am wondering whether they could be involved somehow with a problem I am having with a live USB.)This packages are used to enable booting and build an initramfs on a live system.
After booting my live antix-21 net install, I notice that they aren’t installed, although they are in the repos.
I assume two things:
(1) They are available in the repos for someone who wants to BUILD a bootable live USB and
(2) That in an existing live USB, they only function during the boot process. So, as long as the system boots to a prompt, they have done their job and won’t be involved in any other initramfs changes to that live USB.
Seeking confirmation of this or clarification as to where I am incorrect. I have looked at the live Debian project and just didn’t find this specifically stated.

antiX uses its own live boot system so the ones you refer to are not needed.
