for_use -> for use -> arquivo para uso (diretamente pelo programa, não transifex)

for_translation -> for translation -> para ser traduzido e enviado para transifex

I followed anticapitalista’s instructions and tested the Spanish xhtml (for use) uploaded to transifex.
I just rename it to en.html and make the testing ISO, load it in virtualbox and all seems to work.

Great to read that, @Xecure. Many thanks for your testing. I’m relieved it works as expected, really, since meanwhile I’ve translated (semi-automatically) this help menu now to about 100 languages, so probably everybody will find something readable for him among them now. I’ve done checking for structural errors and correctness of translation within some random samples, and found them looking fine when translating back using another online translating service, even in traditional Chinese or other (for us) exotic languages, so I have no concerns we can use them. Nevertheless native speakers of the respective languages can improve the translations still, I’m sure of this.

These about 100 languages are not the full spectrum of languages linux is capable to handle without any particular provisions, but those I’ve found a machine translating service for. So I believe antiX could support these languages out of the box (since I’ve checked debian does) and, @anticapitalista , I suggest they should be all listed in the f2 language selection menu of the boot screen.

How to change/correct/improve English texts without losing the strings at transifex? Well just make all the corrections at transifex in »en« (English) “translation”:
The probably easiest way to add any suggestions/improvements/error-corrections to the given source texts is to enter the modifications in transifex »en« language (which is empty on purpose for any source files written in English language, there is no need to translate from English to English normally). You simply have to join the English language team to be able to edit the English language. This way Developers only need to check the entries of English language at transifex to see the differences and can decide whether to use or not some of the modifications in next version. For cheking out they can download the »en« file »for use«. Please (!!) don’t use file-upload for pushing your improvements to this very language, since that would fill in all entries with 1:1 copies of the original source strings, so nobody anymore can see easily which entries actually have been modified. Use transifex editor instead for this purpose.

I see, I’m late with my German translations, but I’m working on it (I translate completely manually). Sorry for this. They will be ready as soon as possible. The true reason for the delay is: Quite often I simply don’t understand the correct meaning of the original English instructions found in this help document, and it takes some time to understand what is meant actually. Native English speakers (or speakers very well trained in understanding American English) probably don’t have this problem.

Attached you’ll find my bash script-set I’ve written and used for creating all these machine translations, in case somebody wants to update the files for a next version. After setting it up correctly you can run it unattended, and after the complete translating process is done, just upload the translation files to transifex. You’ll be able to get back in turn all the files »for use« from transifex. You’ll find instructions for usage and workflow inside. (There is a .mo file included to make the script usable for English-language-only readers, since it was originally written in German language.) Let me add: This script set needs some fine tuning, I’m sure of this, but at least it it works. Tested also using the “fast formula” setting for the timing of the translation requests. (The translations I’ve uploaded to transifex have been created with an earlier version of this script set, requiring much more manual work still, but providing slightly better results on the other hand.)

Could you please provide a list of the strings (entry-numbers) in question, so I could add string-instructions to them. But this will be in vain for all the automatic translations, these will have to get checked for this particularity manually by somebody.

Robin, it’s impossible for me to list or identify each one, it’s several sentences where the English language text is identical or practically identical.
As they are texts that have correlation, the translation needs to be coherent for the help text to make sense of the terms used in the programs. It is this verification that I am doing, aligning the texts of related subjects to be perceived as being the same thing. Because they are about the same subject.
The search https://www.transifex.com/anticapitalista/search/ “Search entries” and your language as “Target language
” helps to find the texts that are in the antix-bootscreen-helpmenu. This was the best I could do to find the phrases in the live-??? files.

É esta verificação que eu estou fazendo, alinhar os textos dos assuntos correlatos para serem percebidos como sendo a mesma coisa. Porque são sobre o mesmo assunto.

” ajuda a encontrar os textos que estão no antix-bootscreen-helpmenu. Isso foi o melhor que eu consegui fazer para encontrar as frases nos arquivos live-???.
