      Hi Brian-

Yes – it is resolved – it was past the time for the option of being able to edit the post as such.

Knowing why it was happening and not inadvertently using “dd” was all I wanted.

If you are able to mark it “Solved”, please do.

Thanks again for your help and the explanation.

Marked [SOLVED]. Glad you have the snapshot capability and Full-featured mode working nicely “in concert”!

the test for antiX/MX family isos is not based on filename, however a filename with spaces might break the test. which would be a bug, so thanks for the report.

What attributes ARE used to decide on whether or not the Full-featured mode can be used – and where are they taken from?

we look for the anitX folder inside the iso file. formerly using a loop mount, but they are making a change to make it a little more reliable.

Looking for the antiX (or MX) folder inside the ISO file sounds like a reliable method. Thank you for the explanation.

So messing with filenames shouldn’t affect the result, but I’d leave the names alone until you’re done doing whatever you intend to do with the file, then either remove it or put it onto removable media. It’s just good practice. Typically the names have very good information, such as the name and release of the distribution, plus architecture and system information, which is quite useful.
