::Hi,
some blind questions/suggestions:
1) Does the live-usb-maker provide some more information that the simple “error”?
2) Verify “quality” of the USB – e.g. scan for bad sectors; I had a broken USB once.
3) Verify size of USB and the ISO.
4) Try to write a “dummy” file to the mounted USB to check if the permissions for the USB device are set properly.
5) Did you change any of the default settings of the live-usb-maker?
6) Verify integrity of the downloaded ISO Linux/Windows (checksums, e.g. md5). [Should not be the issue in general but could cause failure of the live media to work properly.]7) Fallback: You may try to create the live USB using ‘dd’, see e.g. this link at techbit to see if (at least) this (mostly foolproof) method works.
WARNING: ‘dd’ is potentially dangerous (loss of data) if you mess up the target partition in parameter of!Hope that might point you to the right direction.
Could also be a i386-specific issue which I could not help with since I use 64bit only.August 29, 2020 at 4:09 am #40871Moderator

::Besides the above, you might also look at the error-log and post it here.
sudo leafpad /var/log/live-usb-maker.logScroll down, the last time used is at the bottom.
Your version-number is confusing.Mine:
$ apt-cache policy live-usb-maker live-usb-maker: Installiert: 0.4.6 Installationskandidat: 0.4.6 Versionstabelle: *** 0.4.6 500 500 http://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/mxlinux/packages/antix/buster buster/main amd64 Packages 500 http://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/mxlinux/packages/antix/buster buster/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/statusEdit:And another question, I have fallen for it myself,
You have not only tried the “dry run” (test-run), but already tried a real live-usb creation ?
The dry-run test run causes error-warnings every time here.- This reply was modified 2 years, 8 months ago by caprea.

::Please close this thread. It is a repost of https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/live-usb-maker-error-message/
Probably it was initially blocked by the spam filter and the OP created a new thred (the above link) to try to overcome the spam block. See date:

PD: The error was probably related to USB drive already mounted in the correct path but the USB maker tool was trying to remount it. Rebooting fixed the problem.
