I am having no success!
Is there step-by-step instructions anywhere to create a USB stick with AntiX base?
or could someone do it here?

Run live-usb-maker from menu or app-select or control centre
select the right flashdrive
select the iso file
click next to burn it
wait till its finished, then wait another 30 seconds just to be sure.I’m glad to hear you are starting over.
You should decide in advance what you are trying to do, make a list, and keep it very simple to improve your odds of success.

There’s no error there as far as I can see. It says 100%. What happens when you hit “close”?

Another irrational crash? You should have gotten a success box popup in front of that screen. If that didn’t appear, maybe it never really finished, or being a newbie, maybe it popped up and you didn’t notice. I suppose you could try booting it and run the checks shown below.
Else, if it didn’t come up, and/or didn’t create a valid bootable usb I’m guessing you are trying to make the USB from a corrupted system, and need to try something different. Since you said before that you have linux mint working, I would suggest trying to find a way to burn the usb from it. Maybe you can get the appimage https://mxlinux.org/blog/live-usb-maker-tool-now-available-as-an-appimage/ to work, or maybe another program like balena-etcher https://www.balena.io/etcher/ can be made to work. If you have a Windows system, Rufus https://rufus.ie/en/ might work with the correct settings.
Make sure once you try to boot the usb that you run the checks on it available on the F4 misc options screen.
F4: Miscellaneous Options
You can only select one of these options. If you want more than one then you will need to type some of them in manually. Normally checkfs, savestate, and nosavestate are only useful on the LiveUSB or a frugal install.
checkmd5 … Check integrity of the install media.
checkfs … Check integrity of the LivUSB and persistent file systems.I suggested above that you download and run the antiX 64 full version which is the default download at sourceforge, and gave you the link for it. That is the one most people run if they have a computer capable of it.

I would just try booting it, take F4 and run the checkmd5 and checkfs. If both are good, the USB is valid.

I think I found the problem. A bad, new 64Gb USB!!!!! Whodathunkit?
I loaded a 16Gb USB and it worked just fine, but is much too small for its porpoise.
I will hold off but not mark this post as solved until I get a brand new 128Gb USB from Amazon in a week or so.

As a FIRST TEST EXPERIMENT, I normally recommend 2 GB root persistence, and 500 MB home persistence, as a starting point. Store your data files in /home/demo/Live-usb-storage folder, so it does not take up room from your home nor root persistence (a special folder for this). Remaster often – at about the 1-GB-used point in your root persistence file.
But yes. Keep trying things. In the beginning, don’t waste time & effort putting lots of data files on the usb, because you most-likely will have to erase everything & start over, at least once. Probably more than once. Experiment & read; watch videos & experiment more. 😉

When you enable persistence, you make the “live” instance of antiX behave like an “installed” instance of antiX.
Depending on how you configure it, it will save changes to RAM only, and you can choose to “save” those changes to your system “permanently” upon shutdown or at any point that you run “Save Persistence Changes” from the menu. This first way is called “Dynamic Persistence.” The thing about Dynamic persistence is, that the saved changes will be loaded into RAM on each boot. So it takes up your RAM — make sure you still have enough for normal computer operations…
Another way is “Static Persistence” — which saves your changes immediately to your persistence file. These changes are NOT loaded into RAM on boot, but read from the persistence file directly, so you have your full compliment of RAM available to run your computer.
Now, your persistence file WILL fill up. So you’ll want to “remaster” before your persistence file fills up. Reboot right after you run remaster – it incorporates the changes in your persistence file into the main system (as if antiX came setup that way, customized to your liking). Then you repeat the process of making a new persistence file to capture your new changes…
“Home persistence” is a compliment to this – it can be used with or without the “root” persistence. It only saves your /home files. It always saves to disk (persistence file) immediately. This persistence file lasts between remasters, and isn’t loaded into RAM.
That’s the basics of it. There is a lot more to it, of course. The main point is to try it out – play with it to see what works best for you. 😉

I’ve practiced/experimented making many Live-USB all day. I’m reasonable satisfied with my latest one which has static persistence and /home separate. My only unease is that if you look at the conky it shows <3Gb root. I clearly remember entering 8Gb.
