::It looks like you at one time had a 6 GB root persistence file, but no current one.
It appears to me that you are not using persistence, currently.
Did you recently remaster, and are currently running without persistence?confirmed antiX frugaler, since 2019

::If you made any changes on this session (this boot), then remaster, or the changes will be lost. Then reboot & enable persistence.
I suspect that you chose the first option on the live usb, not the “custom” one which should be default, which is 2nd in the list . (Forgive me, I’m going on memory here.)
Read the options carefully. You want to choose custom.
Point is: you want to customize it, save the boot options, and use that customized one each time you boot.

::I think I’ve done it! See attached.
My question is; it shows “Disk 24.2M/2.24G” on the conky. I definitely created root with 7+Gb.
I’m confused.Attachments:

::“Disk 24.2M/2.24G” on the conky
this reported value does not match details shown in the screenshot
These files sitting on the USB drive are artifacts [[[unused/unneeded]]] hogging quite a lot of space:
/live/boot-dev/antiX/rootfs.old
/live/boot-dev/antiX/linuxfs.oldFor me (and I would expect for you also) “home only persistence” is not convenient for daily operation. Why? Because you’re unable to save system changes after installing new programs or after performing apt update.

::iznit,
you mentioned 2 things that I am doing incorrectly. How do I delete the ‘.old’ files and to what should I change the persistence?Live-USB = zzz-IceWM-antiX21-runit-64-base: static persistence

::iznit,
I just booted the usb stick and went to the location you mention and both rootfs and linuxfs are there but NOT xxx.old versions.
/disk is 30.3M/2.24Gb. No change in persistence = root enabled.Live-USB = zzz-IceWM-antiX21-runit-64-base: static persistence

::My comment was based on “antiX create or resize persistence” details shown in your screenshot.
If .old files are, now, no longer still there….. okay disregard don’t worry about it.“what should I change the persistence?”
Every time you boot the live antiX, you can choose to enable persistence [[[and what type of persistence]]]. That, on the boot screen is where you should change it. A shortcut method [[[read the wiki page describing the various boot codes]]] would be to declare your choice on the boot line instead of the boot menus.July 20, 2022 at 10:50 pm #86356Member

::Quite a few people like to use “Frugal persistence”, but you do not HAVE to use any persistence with a Live image; the consequence of not using persistence though is that you can’t continue where you left off unless you “save” some kind of context; that is what all of the persistent states, including remastering, do. Snapshots and remastering are two ways then there is Frugal persistence, static persistence, and you can perform persistence on the /home folder, the /root folder or the entire partition(s) you are using.

::Brian,
In the boot up menu;’custom’, I changed to ‘persistence_all’ however once at desktop, the conky still shows ‘persist root enabled’.
Furthermore I then go to ‘Remaster/Personal’ and get ‘Error: Have 429Mb available Need 1420’.

::I remember the author once saying “antiX isn’t for everyone”. Maybe you’d be better off with a distro where everything is already there and they have a horde of tech support people that dial in an fix your problems? Maybe Linux Mint or Ubuntu has that for all I would know.
Anyway, to your latest problem, I’d suggest taking a 2nd flashdrive and starting over with it, and using antiX full 64 sysvinit so you are running the same thing most people run, and doing it all over again, and see if it comes up in Russian again.
