I’m having excellent results with my talking antiX cli.
Except for one persistent error in the login prompt after login.
My login prompt shows:
Last login: Sun Nov 18 22:46:53 EST on tty6
\u@\h W\ $
I’ve looked at /etc/profile and /etc/bash.bashrc and don’t find my answer.
Also bash completion doesn’t work in this login shell, but if I type in “bash” both the prompt and bash completion work.
What file determines the prompt of the login shell?
I thought it was /etc/profile
Best regards,

If ~/.profile (and/or ~/.bashrc) exist, they override /etc/profile
Look in your ~/.profile for PS1 (around line 48)
You’re tinkering with “core” version?
In that case, maybe “dash” (not bash) serves as your default login shell.
Your user shell is set in /etc/passwd.
I have seen after install where this is set to sh or blank. Changing the entry to show bash should fix it.
Computers are like air conditioners. They work fine until you start opening Windows. ~Author Unknown
