hello everyone,
i am using antiX-19.3 Manolis Glezos (full) in my old Lenovo B460e laptop.
my laptop primary built in display was broken so i connected external pc monitor using VGA port in my laptop.
when i boot into antix or any linux. i cannot see login screen ( i only see background image in login screen)
after i type password blindly in login screen. it loads to the desktop. and also every time i has to change my default monitor as a external monitor in control center(set screen resolution ARandR) after i login.
how do i make configuration of login screen in antix. to make it display properly?
how do i set external monitor as primary?
sorry for my bad English.November 4, 2020 at 5:08 pm #44364Member

::I recommend you set your system to autologin first so you don’t need to login at boot (just for now, for the tests).
Control Center > Session > Set Auto-login (write the username of the account you want to auto-login and the click OK)After changing the monitor with arandr, don’t close the program. There is a button to save the monitor configuration (Save layout, or from the top menu Layout > Save as).
Give it the name you want and remember where it is being saved (user/.screenlayout/). In this example I will name it second-monitorNow, if you use any antiX desktop session that is not minimal, add the layout you saved to be launched at startup.
Control Centre > Session > User Desktop-Session
It will launch geany with many tabs. The default opened tab (startup) is the only important one.Add these lines to the 4th line
# Change my screen layout ~/.screenlayout/second-monitor.shwhere second-monitor.sh is the name of the file your created with arandr.
It doesn’t matter where you add the lines, but it must be below the first line (the first line #!/bin/bash must remain there, in the first line).
Save the file and try to see if this works on reboot. If this works, I think you need to add the content of the second-monitor.sh file to the slim (the login screen) configuration, but I am not 100% sure where this was. Once I get back to my main system I will check it out. Adding this to the slim configuration should solve this permanently.
If someone remembers, please give us a hint where the file was and where we could add the commands inside the file.antiX Live system enthusiast.
