Hi antiX tribe,
As you know, there is a Suspend feature inside the Logout menu. When you choose “Suspend”, your computer would turn off screen and most hardware, thus entering a Suspend mode which consumes very small amount of electricity. Later, when you press the power button on your computer, your computer will turn back on within seconds. This suspend behavior has been very reliable on my Thinkpad X60 with antiX 19.2 32bit LiveUSB.
Recently, I started using a newly created antiX 19.2 64bit LiveUSB on a Thinkpad T410 and T430. The suspend feature works well on T410, but it would simply cause my T430 to reboot. Any idea how to troubleshoot this?
By the way, does antiX also support the “hibernate” mode? I do not see such an item from the LiveUSB’s Logout menu. If a Hibernate feature would work, I won’t necessarily need to figure out the Suspend issue.

Can you wake pressing any other key (not the power button)? This would probably be the best solution.
test on a machine that is working (not suspended). If you press the power button, does it restart? You will have to change the power-button behaviour (I think it is an acpi event).
My theory is that, when suspended, if you press the power-button, the BIOS listens to the command and wakes up. Then, antiX starts and, after loading a certain amount of stuff, reads the power-button input and says “hey, they are asking for a reboot”, and reboots. I have this exact experience with my tablet (cannot wake up with anything else but the power button). How I solved my tablet is a “bad solution”. I edited the acpi event (in /etc/acpi/events, powerbtn-acpi-support file) and made it do nothing. I cannot shutdown with the button but can wake (and force shutdown by holding it very long, giving the BIOS the signal to do so). If you find a better solution, let us know.
By the way, does antiX also support the “hibernate” mode? I do not see such an item from the LiveUSB’s Logout menu. If a Hibernate feature would work, I won’t necessarily need to figure out the Suspend issue.
Probably hybernate will have the exact problem at wake-up, as this is probably related to the powerbutton event.
antiX Live system enthusiast.

Sorry. I believe the current post is the first time I ask for the suspend/resume topic. But perhaps I commented on other’s post elsewhere. It is not easy to keep track of the conversations. :-/

But in my case, it is not even about waking up nor the power button. I was just using my Thinkpad T430 and choosing that Logout->Suspend from the menu. The screen did turn off, as if an otherwise successful suspension would do, but then, seconds later the T430 would automatically reboot, without my pressing any button. The lid remains open during the entire process, by the way.

I know there are tons of “suspend reboot” cases out there, but I would usually try to find a post with the “T430” keyword to narrow down, because my another laptop T410 works fine. The link above did not seem to be T430 specific. But still thanks for the relevant info. The end of this bug page suggests some BIOS update might help.

::I have not used suspend I just let go to sleep by its self. But I must say that their are times in the past when it takes a lot waking it up, especially if left over night download torrents or just forget to turn it off.
But I have not notice it lately, but a month or two ago I did install a modded bios 1vyrain. Did this hope I have no idea that not why install it.
