Also where do I find the firewall?

On the bootscreen on live you can choose the keyboard layout with F1 key by chosing a language, you can then try it out if it fits.
The installer will then offer this as a first option.
Also if you want to use wicd for internet instead of ceni you have to choose wicd with the F4 key on the live bootscreen.Most settings also firewall are in controlcenter.

OK, nice you got it installed.
The gui of ufw firewall looks maybe like it is not active, but if you unlocked it once and set it to on,it should be active .
You can look with
sudo ufw status
For the future,let us stick to normal forum behaviour
