Getting your extensions from the standard repository’s: is I hope clear.
Get them from developer website, For example No Script for Palemoon, as a not recommended extension. I use it but it does sometimes break websites, do not complain to the devs, the extension does its job well, website designers, Not always.
Go to https://noscript.net/getit
Look for link to NoScript “Classic” (5.1.9) (SHA256)
Video download helper was also a question. Find the extension you require, internet search, and Download the XPI file, Check your download before installation !.
To install an extension XPI file in Palemoon go to Tools. Addons. Extensions Tab. In front of the search box top right in window is a menu symbol, that opens an options menu.
In the menu select install from file. Navigate to your downloaded extension and install it.You may wish to take extensions from another installation. For Ice Cat and Firefox:
In home directory search for the .file ( dotfilename=hidden directory or file ) Mozilla and open it. Open Firefox directory, open default release directory. Among the files now shown is a directory labelled extensions, this is the container for installed extension xpi files.
Waterfox uses .waterfox then letters numbers followed by default Inside the default directory setup as above.
For Palemoon go to .moonchild productions folder. Open default directory look for folder extensions, xpi files are stored inside.
You can install extensions before connecting to the internet for first time. First start the browser, the directory’s in home will be created
Note: first start without internet connection is very slow.
Install your extensions from file.
If wished for, add user.js along with making any other settings in about:config.
Some further info in how to make Firefox more secure Thread.Latest Firefox versions will only accept signed extensions so some xpi files may not be installable unless you set xpinstall signatures required preference to false in about:config.
Reset preference to true after installation. Do at own risk.
Pls note: This setting may change in future Firefox versions.
Using a user.js. Is a massive help toward regaining control over your browser.
Please inform yourself instead of complaining because usage can and sometimes does break websites..G Hacks blog and user.js. Ghacks user.js should be regarded as a template, it seems to break very few sites.
