      Unable to finish manual partitioning because root partition flag is missing, together with bios-grub flag.
      I intended to make 8 MiB unformatted partition with flag bios-grub, 500 MiB ext4 partition with flag boot and mount point /boot, 10000 MiB btrfs partition with flag root and mount point /root, finally an extended partition on remaining space with logical 450000 MiB btrfs /home partition, remaining space left for future logical partitions that I might decide to add.
      Following image illustrates what I intended, it’s from my failed attempt to install Parrot OS GNU/Linux on the same laptop, they have a bug in the installer, so I decided to try this distro instead (surreal that I’ve encountered a problem again).

        Hi, you forgot to mention three key points so that someone may assess what/where the issue is:
        1) antiX version (+ was integrity of the ISO used to create live USB – check-sum verified)?
        2) Descrption of the HW: e.g. via output of ‘inxi -Fxz’ [run in terminal]
        3) Is any of RAID, secure-boot or UEFI turned on? If so, which one(s)?

        Installing on modern HW can get tricky, see e.g. https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/install-at-dell-latitude-7410-n62p4/

          KISS if you want things to work without pain.

          With complexity, comes permutations, more permutations increases the probability of trouble. What is the purpose of all those differently formatted and oddly sized partitions?

            given that I agree with BobC, in case you absolutely need to partiton your HD as you described, the simplest way is:
            1. with a live you use GParted to create your desired partitioning;
            2. then you can try to install.

            Possible results:
            In case you cannot perform the point 1, you should rethink the layout of the partition you want;
            otherwise, please let us know if everything was successful.

            good luck
