A few hiccups with Mate installation which resolve was found readily in online searches. Otherwise, seems to run remarkably well.

Only issue that I have found no success with is that there is not an option in Mate panel menu for “Suspend”. Also does not suspend at what it is set at for in either xscreensaver or mate power manager. Hibernate is not in the menu either, but I would not use that anyway – just information that might be helpful.

      xscreensaver works in Mate desktop.

Attempts to try to fix [from various online search finds]-

      installed:
      _______________

      dconf-editor:

no options to “true” suspend that were found.
      ———-

      mate-power-manager:

Suspend is set to automatically kick in at 30 minutes in Mate power manager and 45 minutes in xscreensaver – does not go to suspend at all.
      ———-

      mate-screensaver:

GUI options are configurable, but does not work.

Given xscreensaver is enabled in the Xfce desktop – conflict?

      Disabled – no change.

      ———-

      mate-menu [advanced MATE menu]:

      no change.

      _______________________

      xscreensaver removed from startup:

      no change.

      re-enabled in startup and settings.

Would it be necessary to uninstall Xfce desktop? It can boot to MX17 Xfce or AntiX Xfce, so it wouldn’t matter much. Just convenient this way.

      Any suggestions will be appreciated.

      Thank you.
