Several of these duplicate conky’s info display – network, memory, etc. How much memory do they use?

::They don’t use much memory, conky on my system reports 4 MBs of use in pc_mem.py, and icewm totals 14MBs, so not much use here. They do cause a bit of battery drain (not much really, but it does use a bit of cpu on iddle), so you can remove them if you don’t need to see them at all.
For icewm applets, you can remove them from the menu > Preferences > Toolbar (or something similar). COnky can be disabled form startup in ~/.desktop-session/desktop-session.conf

::Maybe I am wrong, easiest way I found is to I set what I do not want to 0 in icewm preferences.
Path with username from live /home/demo/.icewm/preferences
Or call from control center first tab (sorry do not have english name handy as running in german) then icewm settings.# Enable TaskBarShowAPMStatus if a battery is present.
TaskBarShowAPMAuto=0 # 0/1# Show battery status in graph mode.
# TaskBarShowAPMGraph=1 # 0/1# Show battery status monitor on task bar.
# TaskBarShowAPMStatus=0 # 0/1# Show battery status on task bar in time-format.
# TaskBarShowAPMTime=1 # 0/1# Show windows from all workspaces on task bar.
# TaskBarShowAllWindows=0 # 0/1# Show CPU status on task bar.
TaskBarShowCPUStatus=0 # 0/1December 10, 2021 at 11:55 am #72705ModeratorBobC
::I suggest trying an experiment.
1. Boot from the flashdrive, and don’t open any programs or start anything except the programs below.
2. Open the Control Centre, and click on IceWM Settings, which will open the Geany editor, and go to the preferences tab.
3. Open a terminal window, and run the htop command.
4. Open another terminal window if you want, and run the free command in this window to confirm the htop memory used at each step.
5. Wait a couple minutes till the system settles, based on CPU percentage and memory usage shown in htop and on the conky display.
6. Note the CPU percentage and memory used on htop as conky+monitors
7. Go to the menu>Desktop>Conky On/Off to turn conky off
8. Wait 30 seconds for the system to settle and note the CPU percentage and memory used on htop as no-conky+monitors
9. Make the changes in preferences given by Moddit also turn off Net and Mem status.TaskBarShowNetStatus=0 # 0/1 TaskBarShowMemStatus=0 # 0/110. Save the preferences file.
11. Go to the menu>Logout>Restart IceWM
12. Wait 30 seconds for the system to settle and note the CPU percentage and memory used on htop as as no-conky+no-monitors
13. Go to the menu>Desktop>Conky On/Off to turn conky back on
12. Wait 30 seconds for the system to settle and note the CPU percentage and memory used on htop as conky+no-monitorsPlease post the results. I don’t think turning off the IceWM monitors will save much memory or CPU. When I tweaked the default settings (unless it got changed again after that) it was done on a Pentium III, and my purpose was to provide the readings with a minimum of load on the CPU. I think you will find that the biggest effect is from turning the conky off.

::I did the experiment on my 2008 Alien, but CPU% overall is 0 for all tests. Memory used decreased by 180k with monitors turned off, and by 3 mb with conky turned off.
If you try it on a Pentium II or Pentium III, I think you will see that the conky uses a lot more CPU than the IceWM monitors, but on a newer, faster system, it isn’t even noticable.
