      Hi all,

      I have 2 questions (see also added screenshot):

      1)
      How can i change the entry filemanager to have SpaceFM as default entry for this menu-entry instead of that crippled down filemanager?

      2)
      How can i delete/remove the full menu entry Personal and its content?

      3)
      what is the best way to edit the menu? Can i use a tool like Menulibre or does AntiX has its own menu editor?

      Thanks!

        It looks like you are using rox-icewm as your file and window-managers , which is the default on antix.
        If you don’t like rox you can easily change your desktop to Space-icewm with the menu-entry Desktop- Alternate Desktop- Space-icewm

        Open antix-control-centre,under the first point surface,there is icwm-settings, which will open the needed files with geany.Personal is in the menu-file, you can command it out.

          I too have a question concerning the modification of the menu in antiX 17 (antiX 17.1)
          I’m using IceWM (SpaceFM-IceWm), my menu is the same as the one you see in the image attached to Nomko’s post.
          I can easily modify the various items of this menu through antiX-Control-Center → icewm-settings
          However I can’t change the lower items in this menu:
          Focus and Themes items.
          I’d like to remove these two items from their position and insert them into the Desktop item.
          My problem is that when I open the “Menu” file that I find in the antiX-Control-Center → icewm-settings, in this file the last item I see is Help with all its sub-menus. These entries do not appear:
          Run
          Focus
          Themes
          Exit
          In which file do I find them?

            “command it out”
            I guess that means “comment out” the line, by adding a # hashsign to the beginning of line so that its line content will be ignored

            “How can i delete/remove the full menu entry Personal and its content?”
            Not personally tested but i reckon the following steps will cause the the Personal submenu to be skipped when menu is built.
            (in case of breakage, make a copy of the existing file before editing it)
            1) sudo cp /usr/share/desktop-menu/templates/desktop-menu-menu.template /usr/share/desktop-menu/templates/desktop-menu-menu.template.BAK
            2) edit that file, remove this line:
            include_menu “Personal” personal /usr/share/icons/Faenza-Cupertino-mini/apps/32/config-users.png
            3) OPTIONAL, but probably desirable to ALSO remove the line which begins with: entry “Update Personal Menu”
            4) save the edited file, then run Update Menus command and check the result

            “These entries do not appear: Run, Focus, Themes, Exit. In which file do I find them?”
            /usr/share/desktop-menu/templates/desktop-menu-menu.template
            Hmm, in that file I only see references specific to those items for fluxbox menu.
            Based on what I see in the 2 files here, I’ve the impression that icewm is hardcoded to display menu action items for “Run” and “Exit”. We can only alter (via icewm preferences file) what “custom” action is associated with those items, cannot suppress them from being displayed.

              A quick review of the IceWM manual will point you in the right direction.
              https://ice-wm.org/manual

              All the items you mention are managed by editing
              antiX-Control-Center→icewm-settings→Preferences tab
              However moving any of them to within your choice of “Desktop item” is not possible.

                736b69646f6f and SamK Thanks for the tips

                @ SamK

                All the items you mention are managed by editing
                antiX-Control-Center” icewm-settings → Preferences tab

                Yes, in the Preference tab, in the first lines of the file, I find:

                ShowProgramsMenu = 0
                ShowSettingsMenu = 1
                ShowFocusModeMenu = 1
                ShowThemesMenu = 1
                ShowHelp = 0
                ShowRun = 1
                ShowWindowList = 0

                so, if I put 0 on ShowFocusModeMenu and on ShowThemesMenu, the menu will not show them.

                However moving any of them to within your choice of “Desktop item” is not possible.

                Yes, patience.

                3) OPTIONAL, but probably desirable to ALSO remove the line which starts with:” Update Personal Menu “entry

                Good idea. I did that.
