While reviewing some old threads of mine, came to this one:
      https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/several-doubts-about-savestate/

Surprise: more users deleted. Now it was skidoo ‘s turn?
      What’s happening?

This is a strange thing happening, don’t know what’s going on here, probably with the board ai. Even the pm conversation with the anonymized people is gone. Sad thing. Will be difficult from now on to find a hint somebody of the anonymized people gave once, when only vague knowing it was in a specific posting, easy to be found by the nick only among many others the search function presents for the keywords.

Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

Regarding the removal of users, skidoo “disappeared” a few weeks ago. I looked at the CleanTalk logs to see if I could locate a record indicating this, or find anything else.

I came up empty. With the error when the ctcx account had been removed, then the skidoo account, needless to say there has been plenty of attention watching what the spam filter (and any other activities) are doing in the forum. I haven’t seen anything else happen. The one event I still notice is that the spam filter pays attention to rapid posts. Sometimes it looks like some people press Enter to post their entry, don’t get a response in 1-2 seconds, so they press it again, sometimes 2, 3, 4 times. The spam filter only allows one of these posts (if any) through, unless we manually copy them and include them; rapid entries are — rightly or wrongly — marked as spam.

Other than that, I’ve not seen any other instances of “odd” or unexpected behavior.

Regarding our friend skidoo, I know he had health issues. I don’t know with 100% certainty if his account was a “spam filter” casualty or if he – or his family – removed his account.
We definitely miss his expertise here, no doubt about it.

If you – or anyone else – does find a post or a user that is not allowed, or it is removed, and you feel it shouldn’t be, PLEASE contact a moderator or a forum administrator ASAP.
If we can locate the message in our logs, we MAY be able to copy and paste the contents, thereby retrieving it, but this capability isn’t available for very long, because the logs and the data gets trimmed and removed frequently; please reports issues ASAP and we’ll do our best to resolve them – AND if possible, figure out the root cause so that we can alter the rules and behaviors that lead to the “event”. Thanks!

I have not deleted any users.

Sure would be nice if this younger generation would help with light work like bringing in new members .

It is tough being the lone ranger on antiX site on facebook. But then. I am like the antiX pterodactyl.

I don’t think anyone has deleted users, but the Clean talk spam filter has to be carefully monitored.

It HAS deleted both posts and users. Most of them have been spam, but it had made a few mistakes until we ‘fine tuned’ it.

Hopefully the issues are behind us now.

Just to ensure there is no speculation, I have not deleted any users.

Whatever happened with regard to skidoo was after Feb 7,
the date he pointed out I had, in his considered opinion, posted in an
inapropriate thread/manner. I thanked him same day.

Moddit, I don’t think that any moderator has removed anything; I think we had a few problems (since solved) with the forum spam filter.

I haven’t deleted anyone or anything, either. Sometimes the spam filter is a bit overzealous, and I’ve whitelisted posts, which it says whitelists the user as well.

For example, it marked as spam a search for “steam”. In the world of linux and antiX, that isn’t a spam search, so I whitelisted it.

Myself, I am reserving the use of any negative actions to obvious cases where there is no doubt in my mind that the post and poster really belongs in the spam bucket. I haven’t seen any justifying that thus far.

My feeling is that we should keep this all oriented to friendly support, reasonably focused on antiX, and linux in general.

I too will miss skidoo if he’s gone. He has both provided many useful improvements, and helped people like myself learn more of how things do work, and new ways of thinking.

As for facebook, I have tried to help some, but I really think the best thing that can be done there is to steer people here for support. FB just isn’t a good platform for tech support, IMO.

I’ll say it again: I really don’t think any of the moderators (manually) removed anyone, including skidoo.

I know that during the first week, I accidentally (blindly) accepted all of the deletions, removals, etc. that the spam filter presented; this turned out to be incorrect. Noticing my own error, I have been very careful, and as I assisted others in learning how to operate the spam filter, I stressed what I learned from my own mistakes.

The good news is that the tool, now that we’ve used it for a while, appears to have “learned” and accepted what we’ve done. I’ve been carefully watching, only removing a few spam entries at a time, and it’s been working properly. Yesterday and today, for example, there were quite a few spam registration attempts. I always look for recognizable users in the listings; I haven’t seen anyone on our forums on the “Delete” list. We can also look at the “accepted” posts; the usual contributors show up.

My apologies to ctcx; he was an “accidental victim” of my early mistakes. Many of his prior posts now appear to be anonymous, though his current posts are back. Our dear friend skidoo also shows up “anonymous”, yet I did not find anything in our spam filter suggesting that one of us deleted his account or the filter removed him. I’m more concerned about our friend’s “well being” than anything else; keep skidoo in thoughts and prayers; he has been quite ill recently; that’s all I know…
