I’m using someone else’s computer for a few weeks. To avoid wear and tear on my USB drive, I made a frugal install on this computer.
When I’m done with this computer, I’d like to update my LiveUSB to match the state of the frugal install. Is doing that as simple as copying the homefs, rootfs, and linuxfs(?) files back to my USB? Or is there a better way?
Thanks!!
If you also update the kernel, you will have to also replace the initrd file.
Test it out next time. If it doesn’t work you can use the Live USB Maker to clone the running frugal install to rewrite the live session in the USB. But this shouldn’t be necessary if, as you suggest, you simply replace those files yo mentioned.
