I have difficulties with a word that appears 3 times in this file.
I have searched google and dictionaries and can’t find any explanation for “rubberband”.
In French, it’s a rubber band for attaching things. It’s incomprehensible in French.

What is this “rubberband”?

I realise that I was in the wrong thread to ask my question.
My question was supposed to go in the antiXscreenshot 2 thread in the “translation” forum section.
Can a forum administrator move my question and PPC’s answer to the right thread? Is this feasible?

PPC is perfectly right with his explanation. Allow me an additional remark. Please note this is one of the resources originally written in German language. The text was translated to English language by BobC and me afterwards, so it might be a good idea to check the German strings to get the proper meaning (and in some cases a more comprehensive explanation). To learn how to do this, please see the last paragraphe of the second part of the announcement at Migration to new “antix-contribs”. Background and usage instructions. (Part 2) . Somewhere here in forum should even live a screenshot if I recollect correctly, but I can’t find it. Maybe Marcelo knows in which thread it was, he has a recollection ability like an elephant when it’s about where something was already mentioned once before.
Well, just use the method desctribed for seeing two source languages here the other way around, add German instead of English to have English and German side by side.

Concerning the „rubber band” question:

This describes precisely what this „rubberband” is about, so I didn’t guess any additional explanation was needed. I wasn’t aware the English translation doesn’t match 100% the German original text in some few strings.

As said above already, for this resource it might be useful to set German as personal source language in your transifex translation editor, then you can see both languages, English and German, side by side for comparison when hovering with the mouse over the string list on the left side of the Editor window. Also you can see and copy from either languages on the right side of the editor then, allowing you to check for the differences using deepl to see a machine translation of both of them. But don’t be scared. Most strings should be pretty much identical in German original text and English master translation.

The very string instructions have been present for two years now at the resource at antiX-contribs. I just have copied all of them over to antiX development along with the resource, and re-phrased a bit to be more distinct about what this actually means.

I don’t have the “memory of an elephant” (lots of laughter), but I wish I could remember absolutely everything, all the explanations of PPC, Robin, Xecure and all the other explanations contained in this forum. I just try to keep everything I think is important from the antiX forum in “.pdf” files with automatic translation for future reference. I still list all URL addresses in a “.txt” text file which today has about 367 pages, if this file is opened in LibreOffice, along with the title of the respective “.pdf” file. Sometimes it takes a while, sometimes it takes a long time for me to guess what was the text I wrote in the title of the “.pdf” file for me to find the URL of the subject.

About the word “rubberband”, after Robin’s explanations via HexChat, I adapted it to “Capture Area with Cursor”. The “pt_BR” adaptation can also help you, I dedicated many weeks to build the texts of the “pt_BR” version when the resource was only in Transifex Contribs.

Besides, he works fast. He has already finished the translations since yesterday.

Actually the translation is not ready, I just prepared the initial text, as I still need to see the new texts being displayed in the GUI and in the Terminal to adjust the line breaks. During this tweaking process, I will still make some improvements to the “pt_BR” text. Eu apenas tento guardar tudo o que eu acho importante do fórum do antiX em arquivos “.pdf” com a tradução automática para consulta futura. instead in the filter field, and you’ll hit all of them in one go.
