      If you want max performance/best video quality, use height-profiles.lua. In your desktop I mean since it can handle stuff like ewa_lanczossharp.

      I’m obsessed with quality and don’t particularly care if GPU uses high wattage so my github repo’s mpv.conf files reflect that. 😀 Change according to your own needs.

      I also view a lot of old SD (480p) content so I like the HQ settings. Currently for 480p > 768p, I’m using FSR.glsl + (sometimes) LumaSharpenHook.glsl with cscale=bicubic_fast or (sometimes) ewa_lanczossharp/soft. FSR is fractional luma upscaler so no downscaling needed. Debanding is off with a keybinding setup to load/unload profile for debanding as I mentioned earlier.

      I was thinking of buying a passively cooled GT 730 2Gb GDDR5 that’s on sale in amazon. About 60$. Do you still have screen-tearing with GT 710?
