Multiple task bars possible? (Solved)

Hi there lads been using and loving antix,but i want to do some appearance modifications.
Is it possible to have multiple task bars and if yes how i have seen and modified the Ice files but i dont know how to create more task bars i am going for that look(pic) one task bar on the top one on he bottom is it possible?

IceWM does allow for a double height taskbar, there is an option for it in ~/.icewm/preferences which can be edited via Control Centre, Desktop, IceWM settings, or from the menu under Preferences, Taskbar, TaskbarDoubleHeight.

Maybe you should say what you are trying to do with it?

Each workspace also gets its own taskbar, BTW. Only 2 are setup in the default setup, but you can increase that up to 10.

In addition you can add options to the toolbar so you don’t need to hunt for programs on the menus that you use all the time.

Here is a pic of mine set for double height with many toolbar icons and 4 workspaces to choose from.

Thanks for your reply BobC!
Hmmm the double bar is interesting but not what i want it to look like,i want it to look likethe image above i posted for reference:
The objective is to free up space in the normal task bar by removing the date and monitor tools(i want the space since my laptop screen is low resolution)
and move those useful tools to an always on taskbar somewhere unobtrusive (like top right or left in my image) and crucially not eating one more row and making the windows of the open program smaller
this is the problem with the double bar it eats up one more row of space while you see mine on the top right is ontop of the windows bar thus not making the window any smaller.

So it would be fine even on the botom just if we could make it not occupy one more bar.

Hi, I seem to remember task bar bottom dock top shown somewhere when I searched for a space saving theme, meaning window borders taking up less space.

There is a big theme collection at box-look.org which might help. More @ icewm themes org.

If you can’t do it with IceWM, you could also use another panel to complement icewm’s panel. You simply need to add the command in the startup file to launch it with your system.

There are many panels in the repo to choose from: LXpanel, fbpanel, tint2… You could even try to configure Rox-panel, already in the system.

I use autohide so the bar is normally not there, and therefore doesn’t take up any space at all, and only appears when I move the mouse to the bottom and hold it there to make the taskbar popup.

As far as that top task bar. Looks like a firefox persona to me. I did not blow up the picture though.

You kind of can get what you want, but using the JWM desktop ( Choose it from Menu- Desktops)
Go to Control Centre and open JWM config… – “Tray” tab

One of the first lines should be something like:

<Tray x="0" y="-1" height="28" layer="above" valign="bottom">

Edit the Tray line, and play with this values:

<!-- Additional tray attributes: autohide, width, border, layer, layout, valign -->
<Tray x="0" y="-1" height="28" layer="above" valign="top" halign="right" layer="normal" width="500" autohide="top">

Save the text file and restart JWM from Menu- “Log out – right arrow”.

This should put the main toolbar on the top right, setting it to occupy 500 pixels, and autohide it. You can see the bar if you move your mouse pointer to to top right corner of the screen.
You can then manually create a new toolbar, on the bottom, with all the quick start icons you want… ( take a look at https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/making-jwm-desktop-look-more-modern-mx-linux-like/#post-22503 to get an idea how to do that)

IMPORTANT: do this changes at your own risk. ALWAYS, I mean ALWAYS do backup copies of config files before you begin editing them!

Thanks for your help everyone especially Xsecure!
Interesting what you propose PPC and thanks but in the end
i ended up going with Xsecures’s solution of installing LXPanel since it had the exact look i described and put the lxpanel in .icewm start file so starts on boot.

Maybe I should have kept my pie hole shut. I guess it is because I was also a heavy Puppy Linux user that I learned about this kind of stuff.
