      I wasn’t sure if this subforum is the place to post this, but if not, feel free to move it, so long as I can still edit/read it later. 🙂

      I took the default .conkyrc from antix 19 base, and customized! It was made for version 17, but now modified for 19, and verified to also work on 17 again.

      Changed things like the Title (top line) from static text (antix1) to data pulled from the system via CLI (terminal).
      That way it is live, and reflects the version number.

      There are now (more?) horizontal lines between separate items, like Title and Time. Double line below Title, single dotted line elsewhere, for a lighter touch. Time is PM (12 hour time), unlike the tray, which is 24 hour time. Day of the week and month is abbreviated, else it overflows the screen on Wednesday or December.

      Weather info. See comments in file for URL to reconfigure for your locale.

      CPU temp. works for this model (Nokia Booklet 3G), YMMV if sensor is not detected or without a driver.

      WLAN info, including current ESSID, LAN IP, Signal Strength, etc.

      AC adapter and battery status (also may be model dependent, and may not display exactly without reconfiguration)

      Text I find important is highlighted blue (color8), (color) is white. See file for examples.

      Left or right aligned, or centered, to be readable.

      All text, for less moving stuff to overload CPU/GPU, and take less space on screen, this screen is only 1280 x 720.

      Enjoy. 🙂

        @anticapitalista:

        Thank you for rescuing this thread from purgatory, I wrote it to help other antiX afficionados and newbies.

        I am grateful you did this now, but hope there is a solution so others do not have to suffer false positives.

        If I can help, send me a PM, or an email at my registered email addr. please. I am an IT admin. (Mac OS, and Linux, no MS garbage), and willing to help.

        Unfortunately, I have a new sorrow:

        I was notified (correctly) that I have PM replies from @BrianMasinick, which I wish to read, because he has been nothing but helpful, but I fail to see the link to read the reply. Sorry, American IT can’t find the link, either it is outside my screen due to low res. or it is not there at all. I fault WordPress, NOT you or Mr. Masinick. In My Humble Opinion (the apropriate Greek word HUBRIS comes to mind), seek alternatives to WordPress which are less work for you, and maintain the wonderful antix community better.

        P.S. Please notify @BrianMasinick by whatever means are at your disposal, I thank him, and wish him well. And as a fellow American, will visit him, if he wishes. The PMs in WordPress are almost as broken as the spam filter. NO HATE, just objective info. from people who wish antix to succeed.

        P.P.S. I made a sound file (*.ogg) for the startup sound that antix makes, thanks to the included default config. files. It can play, as soon as the file is present, you gave done the preparation, thank you again. You left the file itself out, so others can choose the melody they want, very democratic of you. It would be absurd for me to explain why I respect Greece for the concept of democracy. 🙂

        My file is a 2 second sample of my favorite Greek musician, Haris Alexiou, specifically the opening of (forgive my butchering your language) “Di Ethon”. Rarely have I heard a more beautiful melody, or words which I barely understand (I am trying), which affect me more.

        The reasons why I haven’t shared are many, I am tired, depressed, angry (never at you or antix, at other guilty parties). But also I am afraid the stupid spam spam filter will cause you AND me more grief. Please focus on the broken spam filter, and tell me how I may help.

            I see no tip or trick here just a mess. A lot of the code lines don’t mean a thing. When I get time I will tidy it up if you like.?

              You are 100% correct it is not a tip or trick, but a mess of code.

              In my defense however, it is a mess I use daily, specifically for laptop use. Fits in a low res. screen, shows battery state AND wifi ESSID.

              In summary, it may be a dog’s breakfast, but I use it daily.

              The worst result possible is Conky refuses to load, and IF they backed up their previous config. they can restore it. With a antix LIVE usb if they know/remember nothing else. Thanks to @Anticapitalista and many other kind volunteers and contributors.

              Since I shared my origins with several kind and selfless people here, as an American overseas already attacked online by Putinist goons, I wish you to prove you are not, by the simplest web of trust. Ask @anticapitalista or @BrianMasinick or @PPC or many other NON-American but fair people to vouch for you. If you can’t, go home to Leningrad comrade.

                ${battery_percent BAT0} change to what your battery number BAT0 BAT1 etc.

                  answering (showing) “what it does”
                  /usr/local/bin/persist-enabled is a tiny shell script

                  #!/bin/bash

                  [ -e /etc/live/config/persist-root -o -e /live/config/persist-root ] || exit
                  echo "Persist Root Enabled"

                  The blankness, on your machine, would indicate that you’re not currently running a “Persist Root Enabled” livesession. If you are not livebooting and plan to never again do so (installed to disk, and no expectation that you will snapshot and run live later) you could just delete that line from your .conkyrc

                  If you decide to keep the line, here’s a nitpicky tip:
                  execi should just be “exec” here. Pointless to recheck every nn interval ~~ if persistence was not already enabled at start of session, we can’t change horses mid-session (In other words, the script output indicates a status which will remain constant throughout the boot session.)
