I don’t know if people tell you guys often enough, but:

Thank you so very much for this great OS.

      To ALL OF YOU:
from anticapitalista, who runs the show — you are a veritable prize, my unmet-friend! (I think of you as “the hardest-working man in socialism” 🙂 )…
      to those supporting characters who aid & abet to make this all work so seamlessly: BitJam, skidoo, Dave, dolphin_oracle (and I’m sure SO MANY OTHERS whom I’ve not come into contact with yet through the forums);
and the grand forum admins who monitor and help guide the forums…
and ALL the forum members who are always so eager to help quickly and cheerfully…

I’ve been using antiX for 1 year now, and it is my “home” distro.
antiX, to me, is the best of Linux, and of computing in general. With antiX, I have been able to salvage three old Windows XP computers that had no hope to stay off the trash heap.
I have enjoyed computers since MS-DOS 5.0 & Windows 3.1, but The cost got so prohibitive to buy new commercial OSes for used hardware: I remember buying at least two retail versions of Windows XP circa 2002 for self-built rigs…
Linux in general works, but nobody else but antiX wants to bore down to the basics of what is truly necessary to be a fully-functional, “non-fat,” and versatile OS. antiX gets that — that is, YOU GUYS get that.
antiX can run EVERYTHING I want to install, on old, “obsolete” hardware. antiX, of course, runs on my newer hardware like a dream, as well. I love the automatic set-up of the three (actually 4) window managers — sometimes I even just like to switch and reconfigure a non-favorite one (which ends up becoming my new favorite)!

So I get full functionality out of the box: I can do any computing tasks I want/need. And I get endless “tweakability” to play around with all the non-essential bits. And from playing around with Live USBs to building up from a “naked” command line system… It is just plain FUN computing with antiX!

So I just want to say a GREAT BIG “THANK YOU,” antiX team, just in case it’s not said enough, considering the work you all put into it. And for no financial gain… 😉

Thank you all for a great operating system, and a great community.

And I hope & pray the best for you all, in all your endeavors.

      confirmed antiX frugaler, since 2019

congrats on 1 year … I just passed about 1.5 yrs using antiX.
Here since about sept-oct in 2017 using as my main OS on several
machines and I agree on the fun and options of having different
iso options (full, base, core, and net) to play around with on
old and otherwise often tossed away hardware.

Just adapted my wifes Asus notebook with Windows 10 into a MX linux only notebook. Windows was fubar. Recovery was broken. Notebook was stuck in a repair loop for weeks.
Still no Windows screen. I deleted all partitions on the 500 gig drive. Made a new gpt drive. Figured out how to get it to boot by trial and error. No wireless driver in their kernel but I got it going. Shade tree like.

          Posted about it over here.

If she shows no interest. I inherit it, I guess. This team has taught me all I know about fixing computers. Software wise. Still learning. UEFI and efi blinded me.
I should have slowed down and researched before deleting partitions.

So stick with us folks. Maybe learn something. I was clueless till I came here. Then MX forums taught me even more.

@rokytnji: I had a similar experience. My wife’s small hybrid tablet/laptop with Win 8.1/2 GB RAM/32 GB HDD, worked fine for 3 years, then the cursor froze and volume got stuck at zero and stayed there. Neither Refresh nor Reinstall changed anything, so she was ready to ditch the rig and buy a new one. Then, having tested AntiX in a VM on Windows, it hit me try to install it on her machine. And, since I had got completely disgusted with MS and its nefarious Windows antics (no pun intended) I wiped Windows off her machine during the AntiX installation. Lo & behold, both problems were gone and the OS has been working fine ever since. This also gave me confidence to wipe Win 10 off my new laptop while I installed Linux.

That exhilarated feeling of freedom from Windows fears is really good. And seeing no let up in MS’s behaviour I am convinced this is the right way.
