Hello.
Though relatively still short time here, I have been using AntiX for a while already, and learning a lot -and still keep learning-. I’m grateful for all this.
However, I think I really need to complain about a particular issue: the username I use here seemed to be completely deleted with no warning, and being replaced by a user called “Anonymous”. I had to register again.

::@ctcx: When did this happen? We certainly remember you and to the best of my knowledge, you did nothing to warrant removal; it may have been an accidental change or an issue with the spam filtering software as we were configuring it.
In any case, apologies for whatever happened; happy to have you back with us!

::I’m pretty sure I’m innocent. I’m pretty careful around here with my admin priviledges. Only have deleted a couple of spammers Since Jan 1. Obvious spammers.
ctcx was neither of those spammers handles. So not sure how this happended. Sorry you had to go through that. I went through something similar at MX forum when they did their site change for the forum. That is why my handle there is rokytnji.1. I lost all all posts and threads on that one.Only bothered me for a second. I tend to move on after disaster strikes . Sorry this happended to you.

How to Search for AntiX solutions to your problemsJanuary 20, 2022 at 7:41 pm #75655Memberctcx
::Well, I cannot say at all when this happened; only that I realized just some 4 days ago…
Though it’s true that, IIRC, I hadn’t logged in since shortly before the beginning of this year.I tried using the “contact us” form here in the forums before recreating user here. BTW, up until now, no answer…
“Cleaning out spammers”. Ok, that makes total sense indeed. Just if I may ask, is this why there are still many “Anonymous” users to be found here?
Finally, and if I may, just would like to comment that, perhaps, the forum search could be further improved…?
Also, in one of my previous threads, it was said that community here doesn’t really like IRC too much. So perhaps would be in place to remove the link/page from the forums?
Just small suggestion attempts…Thanks for your attention again.

::Well, we really like IRC, since once it works fine, you can even communicate in different languages using an automatic real time translation. Privacy is way better than in all these so called “social” networking groups. The translation script is in maintenance right now due to version update from antiX 19 to 21, but once I have managed to update it I’m sure there will probably be more antiX users who join IRC. In antiX 17/19 the real time translation runs fine, just ask Marcelo 🙂
You should know: You don’t have to use the web interface via browser for accessing IRC, there is an IRC client preinstalled on antiX, it is called Hexchat.Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

::is this why there are still many “Anonymous” users to be found here?
Although you may have noticed “many” posts attributed to Anonymous, those are collectively attributable to fewer than 6 (or perhaps 8?) accounts which, across a span of 3+ years, wound up being banned. One person in particular who was an extremely prolific poster here, turned sour (nasty, argumentative, disparaging, demeaning) and their account wound up being banned. That person registered a new account and, with a new clean slate, again posted prolifically… until they ultimately turned nasty again and that second account wound up banned. After some months hiatus, same person registerd a third account and (lather, rinse, repeat) that third account wound up being banned. The hundreds of posts attributable to these 3 accounts comprise most of the posts which are now attributed to “Anonymous”.

::>> community here doesn’t really like IRC too much
> Well, we really like IRC…
IFAIK, Robin’s collective “we” is unsubstantiated.
Said differently, I hold the impression that relatively few among the folks who participate in this forum are keen on also using an IRC channel.January 24, 2022 at 5:12 am #75945Memberctcx

::Thank you ctcx. I’ve been involved in the spam detection project, and I was unaware that we were unintentionally removing or altering users until it was explicitly reported. We’ve been taking action every day to not automatically remove everything, but first examine the posts and the users. Most of the use cases work properly, but we found a few exceptions. By carefully watching these, whitelisting the “overzealous” cases, we should be able to reduce, and hopefully eliminate all incorrect cases. Still, we appreciate them being reported, and those who are monitoring this are doing our best to also manually examine everything to minimize more cases like this; we caught two additional cases with a couple of skidoo’s posts and were able to resolve them before losing either the user name, post, or any content; hopefully as we continue this practice, the “learning” and “accuracy” of the tool, coupled with blacklist and whitelist entries to correct the few cases that the default algorithms get wrong, will make this an even better tool.
Sorry that your ID and posts were corrupted; I’m looking to see if there is a way to put your name BACK on the posts you indicate; have not figured that out yet, but I haven’t given up either. Please continue to identify any errors; hopefully we can get everything perfect – and SOON!
