The installation fails
Did you ever do
sudo apt updatein your antiX OS? You won’t be able to install anything from the repository without that… That’s probably why you also failed to install the ft10-tranformation package…
it’s probably that or some problem with your repositories…

Yes, I did that before. Then I added some repository (chosen more or less randomly), then
sudo apt update
then
sudo apt upgrade
That caused a ton of upgrades for a while, and gave me the impression that all the system was changed/reinstalled (and that maybe I shouldn’t have done that), including grub.
Finally I lost the connection, Conmann wouldn’t want to work…
Fortunately after a reboot everything seems to work fine.
I was able to run the script, it could install the dependencies.
But no result.
And…. sorry for mentioning a thing and the opposite a few messages later… a glance in the log of the NAS : “failed to connect via SMB due to SMB1 not permitted”That caused a ton of upgrades for a while, and gave me the impression that all the system was changed/reinstalled (and that maybe I shouldn’t have done that),
No, quite the opposite- that’s what you should do. Having an updated system is probably one of the best security mesures you can have. If you never updated the system, then, manyyyyyy hundreds of megabytes will be downloaded. It’s normal. Unfortunalty, this updates also include a grub update – which can confuse many newbie users (since it has a very peculiar interface, and just pressing enter in the wrong place can make your system unbootable…- it’s basicaly the only dangerous thing in the entire update process).
My script does not work with Samba 1 shared folders, sorry… you’ll have to finde another way to connect to it, if that’s the problem.P.
Well I updated/upgraded often, but maybe not with the good repos. I already had a major update, the grub was already updated…
At least now there’s a smb.conf file. I’m suggested to add
min protocol = SMB2
in the [global] part, but it doesn’t prevent the computer to carry on with SMB1, according to the NAS log. Even after a reboot (it appears I can’t restart Samba with the suggested systemctl restart).Update :

This is the way I am defining SMB shares on my NAS servers as well. Although the other methods discussed here do work too, in my experience.

Finally I solved the problem the same way I did on an other PC with Ubuntu : via fstab.Although I replied that fstab was also the way I ended up to access SMB shares, I was surprised that the smbmap (renamed later to my_network_neighborhood, if I am not mistaken) developed by @PPC did not work for you. It did work for me when I tested it some time ago, after all. Perhaps this program has been changed since those time and this was reflected in the name change. Perhaps it was to integrate it tightly under FT10 umbrella, I do not know.
Therefore I finally got around to try it the way it is now, as provided by @PPC earlier in this thread and I also have no success so far in making it work now.
Not sure where the issue is and I will look into this further on my side, but the ultimate resource is @PPC – the maker of this program himself, if you care to look at this alternative further.On my side, I might go back to the original version, posted as separate at that time (not yet integrated into FT10). This is a useful utility for SMB shares and works dynamically vs. FSTAB definitions, which are pretty much static.
