I am teaching a course that I have created presentations in .odp format.
One student, who is blind, asked if I could provide a .docx format version which is easier for her to use a text to speech program with.
Tried pandoc. Got an error
`pandoc: Cannot decode byte ‘\xa4′: Data.Text.Internal.Encoding.decodeUtf8: Invalid UTF-8 stream’
which I interpreted as the file was using UTF-4 instead of UTF-8, so I used iconv to make the file UTF-8.
Now getting an error,
iconv: illegal input sequence at position 10 <p>PK</p>Appreciate assistance.
Thanks.

P.S. if there is another way to do this, happy to hear about it.
P.P.S. Only one code box shows up, even tho I used the code tags. don’t know why.

::I have always found Google Docs to be able to take just about any sort of input file and convert it. In the case of ODP files, I guess the equivalent file format is Power Point, so that may be worth a try. I don’t see a lot of love for Google in this forum, for good reasons, but some of their services get the job done extremely well.

::A possible workaround, assuming the student is on windows and has microsoft office, is that the student does the conversion. You can save the .odp as a .pptx, the student can use powerpoint to export the pptx to .docx. I think its File/export/create handouts, and the presentation will be created in a word document.

::Open the file with LibraOffice, go to Tools > Options > Load/Save > Always save as > Word 2007-365(*.docx), save as the file as docx.
