ok did that still no sound. tried both options. and by no sound i mean i went to youtube.com and tried to play a video. also installed pulseaudio, ran pulseaudio –start then opened pavucontrol and selected the correct card there and disabled the incorrect card then restarted my browser and i can see that firefox is playing in pavucontol and the sound is not muted there or by my keyboard and the tab of the browser is not muted and the video plays and i can see it playing but what i have is no sound. i also installed every gstreamer plugin that looked like it might be useful as well, ie base good bad and ugly. still no sound. my tv is not muted and the sound works on the tv when im not in antix.

can you post a screenshot of the terminal output of

            inxi -Fxz

to see if the sound driver is being loaded. that way others can know what
            hardware it is.

looks like the driver is being loaded. with that new of a motherboard you may have
to install a newer kernel though the package installer such as the 5 series kernel.

you can do that with backports. install the kernel headers package as well.

                        linux-headers-amd64

I was referring to the antiX package installer

applications >> system >> package installer

and see what newer kernels are in buster.

glad it worked. newer motherboards need the newer kernels. I haven’t
used many controllers on antiX, maybe some others can help with that.

i like your package manager though im sure how i feel about passwordless package installs… ill reboot into antix5.8 from 5.10 i back ported and see how it run. just want eso to run on steam play and were good here if i can get sixaxis working on that also…

5.8 antix kernel leaves me without internet

steam installs but eso does not start

it’s just so hard to get off systemd…

Hi LizziAS, did you install steam through the package-installer (recommended because it installs everything needed and in the right place for you )?
Are there any error messages when starting eso (guessing you are talking about The Elder scrolls ? )
