In order to upgrade to this:

      1. Use the 4.9.176.antix.1 kernel (RECOMMENDED)

how and where do I get it?

      thanks,

antiX Core 64 Bit Runit IceWM

It should be installable from either (both) the antiX “stable” or the “testing” repository

        .

        .

        How?
Well, here’s what I see in synaptic package manager (antiX17, using “stable” repo)

        .

And what to do after this ?
After having installed both, first the linux-image 4.9.182.antix.1 and then also the linux-headers 4.9.182.antix.1
the system STILL uses the old kernel – Stable, amd64, antiX 17.2. (No new option is shown on the startup screen.)

And what to do after this ?

You reboot, of course, to start using the new kernel. Then, and only then, you can remove the old kernel and headers.
And if you have a Nvidea graphics card, you’ll need to reinstall the driver for that.

              You reboot, of course

A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
unless the horse is a liveboot + persistence system.
In that case, perform a live-remaster operation, then use the live-kernel-updater utility.
