I am running antiX 17 (32 bit) and using kernel 4.9.221.
I notice that there is a new 4.9.235 kernel available Synaptic.
I haven’t seen any notices of this in the forum.
Just wondering if it is advisable to upgrade to 4.9.235 or if it is better to stay with 4.9.221

      Below is my inxi -F:

If you are happy with your kernel, keep it. I think the new one is heavier (will take more space in RAM) so it is more compatible with more hardware. But it also includes security fixes, so you may be interested.

        About the notice: https://antixlinux.com/new-kernels-available-7/

About downloading it, try it out. You can always boot back to your previous kernel from grub if you experience problems with this one (and then remove the problematic kernel).

          Thanks for the information.
My version 4.9.221 is working fine.
I am interested in the security fixes so will give it a try.

I tried kernel 4.9.235 which did not work well.
With kernel 4.9.221, my laptop would go from login to desktop very quickly. But with 4.9.235 it took 85 seconds to go from login to desktop.
I just got a notice for the new kernel version 4.9.240 which is coming out soon for AntiX 17. I’ll give it a try and see if it works well.
