You should see some changes to the icon settings with a dist-upgrade.
Hopefully, all app icons will show up in the menus ok and in the control centre.

When prompted for icewm, jwm, fluxbox and/or rox configs

“What would you like to do about it ….?”

Choose y (yes to accept new changes. Most will be in etc/skel).

Post here if there are any issues.

antiX-17.4 will be available very soon.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

My yes or no permission was not asked Anti on this one. Maybe because I said y on a previous dist-upgrade. I can’t remember . Usually I say no .

Nice changes, I really like the new look, thank you for all your efforts and work !

Found little typo, backlight-brightness-icon does not appear in CC
          In antixcc.sh
          which backlight-brightness &>/dev/null && [ -n “$(ls /sys/class/backlight 2>/dev/null)” ] \
          && backlight_entry=$(entry \
          $ICONS2/background-brightness.png \
          “desktop-defaults-run -t backlight-brightness &” \
          $”Backlight Brightness”)

          should be

          $ICONS2/backlight-brightness.png \

          Thanks !

My yes or no permission was not asked on this one

roky, a week or so ago I waded through manpages trying to learn how all these interact:
            debconf
dpkg-reconfigure {— because a while back I had recongifured debconf and selected “ask… medium or greater”
            apt-listchanges
            ucf

I reckon the “why” (or “why not asked” in this case) is explained by the few short paragraphs in
            man ucf

Just posting this so you can “see what I’m seeing” (in case we’re not seeing identical result)

              antiX-17.3.1_x64-full.iso
              dist-upgrade
create a new user, logout, login as the new user

              .

                clicking around, I just noticed:

A new user might suspect “a bug” ~~ the light-colored conky output does not show well if user selects the pre-installed “tux kids” or “refreshing” wallpaper images

Read the man ucf in this older i386 install I have right now. Haveing myself played a bit with the :

                  apt-get dist-upgrade -y --force-yes

myself with dist-upgrade . Just Not sure if on what gear I played that tune on. Maybe just a case it was a hang over ? 😀

                    Try running
                    conky-colors --help
It changes the colors in our default .conkyrc.

conky-color is another of those “hidden gems”. I think it is not exposed via ControlCenter nor antiX-cli-cc

It would fit DesktopMenu }} Accessories, along with “Conky Toggle”.

Current Conky (and both desktop icons on the left) is also positioned too high.

                        Currently:

                        gap_x 10
                        gap_y 20

                        Should be:

                        gap_x 20
                        gap_y 40

The reason is, if you ever happen to use ‘Rox Panel’, you’ll get ‘accident’.

Already speaking about ‘Rox Panel’, it’s wrong preconfigured.
‘Apps’ opens /usr/share instead of /usr/share/applications.

                        See screenshots.

And … new antiX, 17.4 or 19 or whichever, needs a good new set of wallpapers too.

                              Can I really? I didn’t know that. 😉

A couple of months ago, people here told me that for the icon set too. 😉

But seriously, a good set of wallpapers just belongs to ‘visual consistency’/appearance of a Distribution too.

It’s not hard to exchange them yourself, but neither it’s hard to pick up a dozen of fine, free wallpapers and include them in the distro out-of-the-box. Good fonts, good contrast, consistent icons all over the system and a dozen of high quality wallpapers leaves much better impression and it shows that one got a finished product that was ‘made with love’, with patience and with care.
