Hi everyone my name is Ciro and I’m from Italy.
I’m new to linux and I was looking for something to somewhat “revive” my lifeless computer. I’m using Antix 21 on my usb right now and I must say it looks pretty smooth!
Before i install it on my partition could you tell the differences between the versions on the download page?
For instance I’m using the “full” version, so I assume it has useful utilities in it. It’s the recommended one for beginners? Or there are more efficient versions?
I look forward to understand how everything works since it’s one of my passions.

For beginners, I would recommend to use the full version (not runit full version though)

Puoi leggere le FAQ sia sulla live che sulla versione installata.
Qualora tu cerchi il manuale d’istruzioni, a me sembra un po’ nascosto, ma con una ricerca sul forum lo trovi in 1 minuto.
Ti consiglio inoltre di leggere anche gli howto scritti da PPC, che trovi come primi argomenti di questo forum, che sono preziosi e ti risolvono l’80% dei problemi.

Hello and welcome. In this forum you will find many knowledgeable and kind people.
You can read the FAQ both on the live and on the installed version. In case you can’t read it on Dillo, you can copy the local address on firefox.
If you look for the instruction manual, it seems a bit hidden to me, but with a search on the forum you will find it in 1 minute.
I also recommend that you also read the howtos written by PPC, which you find as the first topics of this forum, which are precious and solve 80% of your problems.

Regardless of your level of knowledge about GNU/Linux, I recommend you read these excellent tutorials created by @PPC (I believe these are the ones madibi indicated):

When you start any topic or participate with any post, remember to check the option “Notify me of follow-up replies via email”, by checking this option you will receive a message in your email inbox whenever there are replies to the topic in question.

Use the full 32-bit ISO (antiX-21_386-full.iso) or the full 64-bit ISO (antiX-21_x64-full.iso), from the Sourceforge. The other base, net and core ISO options are for GNU/Linux experts. The full version has practically everything a user needs and also what they don’t even know they need, but if one day they need it, it will be available for use. Know that all these programs do not consume RAM or processing, they are available and consume little hard disk space when compared to Windows 7 which consumes about 18.3 GB of hard disk space after installation, while antiX full consumes about 3.7 GB of hard disk space after installation. The antiX programs will start to consume RAM and processing only when they are executed.

Utilize a ISO de 32 bits full (antiX-21_386-full.iso) ou a ISO de 64 bits full (antiX-21_x64-full.iso), da página do Sourceforge. As outras opções de ISOs base, net e core são para os especialistas do GNU/Linux. A versão full possui praticamente tudo que um usuário precisa e também aquilo que ainda nem sabe que precisa, mas se um dia precisar, estará disponível para a utilização. Saiba que todos estes programas não consumem memória RAM ou processamento, eles estão disponíveis e consomem pouco espaço no disco rígido quando comparamos ao Windows 7 que consome cerca de 18,3 GB de espaço no disco rígido após a instalação, já o antiX full consome cerca de 3,7 GB de espaço no disco rígido após a instalação. Os programas do antiX passarão a consumir memória RAM e processamento apenas quando forem executados.

Hi Ciro,
welcome to the forum.
you ask if there are more efficient versions than antiX full, pls do heed the
advice others have given, for a beginner the full sysv init version is best option, effiency is no different
as the base, Kernel (engine) choice is pretty much same for all versions. In full you have a choice of two Kernels
one is fallback for older devices which have issues with the newer option.
Just take your time, for some the huge amount of options in antiX are a litte overwhelming.
Keep a working backup of your system, in case you break something while learning, you can then just quickly reinstall
without stress and be happy.

Many of us are scattered around the world and speak different languages, DeepL is my personal recommendation for accurate
understandable translation.

hello friends of antix, I have antix 19.3 on the desktop pc and mx linux on the laptop. The point is that I want to open, use a remote desktop, which I usually use on a windows pc at work. I tried remminia, team wiever and any desk, none of them work. Could you help me? I don’t want to go back to windows anymore.
