::Looks like you are doing fine.
I see you are running Rox filer as the default file manager and IceWM as the window manager with your IceWM theme set to the default, Blue day.
antiX includes the newest version of IceWM and you’ll find it has lots of options that make it very efficient managing your programs and windows.
You will find threads here that will show you how to get IceWM to start things up more easily and setup the way you want them. Look for threads started by Moddit and PPC for ideas.

::Thanks. Actually installed Nemo as the default file manager (only for some minor conveniences) and installed the Evolvere-2 Icon Set (could have grabbed a better jpg). I’m otherwise very pleased with the defaults but, you know, I like to fiddle and get to know a new desktop.

::Nemo works fine with antiX. SpaceFM (already installed) is my favorite, but Nemo was useful finding files. If I recall, it didn’t come with an icon for the toolbar, so I had to improvise. The Preferred Applications program will allow you to make it your default.
Have fun…

::I am linking here some icons I modified from Adwaita that are not in papirus-antix and that I think are used in connman-ui. They are only in the 24×24 size folder.

I will now test this on my laptop with your newest theme, BobC, and report back in a bit.antiX Live system enthusiast.

::The result with BobC’s theme and dark mode + icon replacements.

Even when disconnected (when it first launches) connman-ui-gtk is visible enough.

I will see if I can find papirus-antix and papirus-mini-antix icon theme in the antix-linux gitlab and make a merge request there.

::I will test tomorrow with bigger toolbar sizes and see if I also need to edit the 48×48 icon sizes.
The theme looks and works great on my 768p screen. Good job.antiX Live system enthusiast.

::I came to the realization that the different sizes require different themes because the taskbar/traybar are sized based on the size of the main menu button.
This means theme variants can be different colors and fonts, but within the constraint of the overall sizes of the components. I think I will create a Huge4K variant that will work on my main system in 3840×2160 (4K) resolution. Currently, I run it in 1920×1080 (1080p) resolution. I will also eventually create a Large variant for 1080p resolution, and a Small one for lower resolutions.

::Ok, to make the largest ones work I needed to make the height of the area used by the clock text a bit taller. This value needs to be changed in ~/.icewm/preferences
# Height of taskbar monitoring applets TaskBarGraphHeight=24 # [16-1000]The Huge4K one also needed a font size 2.0 on my 3840×2160 screen. The rest worked with the default 1.0 fontsize.
I also renamed them to antiX-Magic-xxxSIZExxx-Color-SubVariant. The SubVariants might be used for things like a Mac button arrangement, etc. This allows that someone might want Blue or Tan highlighting instead of grayscale, for example. Right now, I’m happy with it.

Let me know if any problems are found, please.
PS: Pic is from my main 4K video laptop using the Huge4K with fontsize 2.0. It looks quite nice. I trimmed it down so it wouldn’t be huge here. People with 4K video and poor eyesight might need to adjust things or use a bigger screen, but its totally better than it was. I suppose the only problem left is that it doesn’t just come up looking like this by default, but at least no I can get there.

::Hallo BobC,
Sorry for late reply, Enjoying the narrow border theme, nice work.Last minor update ran my menu through a processor so was busy.
putting things back as wanted and set before. Overconfident
so not backed up after every change :-(.November 16, 2020 at 12:51 pm #45138ModeratorBobC
::If anyone finds any problems, please let me know.
The next step is to create any additional variants people would use, like one with the buttons setup like a Mac, or one using a different style/ color buttons, or using some color other than gray for highlighting.
If you want something, please identify what you want and provide a pic of a screen showing it from another theme with the menu open to the theme it’s on so I can just grab it from that theme.

::Posting this to show how much space is taken up < looks just right to me > on this IBM T 430 screen laptop . AntiX-Magic-Large.

::I cleaned up the colors, especially on the monitors.
Moddit: I added a superthin version off the thin one that saves another 10 pixels. The superthin one should have a few special preference settings to go with it which are noted in the .theme file. prefoverride code to match with superthin follows
### Purpose: super thin screen layout to maximize available space on school laptops. ### Corresponding ~/.icewm/preferences or ~/.icewm/prefoverride settings ### reccomended as follows: WorkspaceNames=" 1 ", " 2 "," 3 "," 4 " TaskBarDoubleHeight=1 TaskBarAutoHide=1 TaskBarGraphHeight=16Xecure: I need someone that understands other OS’s to look at the Medium variants and note the other ones available with different button arrangements. They have unusual names which are meaningless to me as I don’t know what kind of systems they are for. Would they get used if available? If so, I would need to know what to call them.
I put all the themes into one zip file and each theme folder should be copied to ~/.icewm/themes
Let me know if any problems are found

::Downloaded and will come back later to report.
About names of window button arrangements, I don’t think there are any special names always used. With a right-layout/left-layout name would be enough, one for “normal”, and the other for people who prefer the mac-like layout. No need for more than that.antiX Live system enthusiast.
