Could you please elaborate on the solution, where it needs to be fixed?
App-select has not been working for me for a long time and as Xecure discovered originally I can confirm that the issue is with Icon Theme other than Papirus…
Non-working App-Select was not critical to me so far but now it becomes needed for the enhanced desktop developed by PPC and other team members search capability and resolving this issue becomes more important…

If you edit the app-select script, and replace line 39:
missing_icon = "gtk-missing-image"
for this instead:
missing_icon = "application-x-executable"

Does it work for you?
I proposed this fix 2 months ago in the gitlab page: https://gitlab.com/antiX-Dave/app-select-antix/-/issues/2
but it may be a wrong solution, and that is why nobody has answered me. I know it worked for me 2 months ago, but maybe a recent update makes the “fix” not good.

Thanks for the fix, anticapitalista. I tested with a few icon themes and now it doesn’t spit out any errors.

I am not able to test right now. Will try to do shortly, when figure out where that script is in the first place…

Sorry for delay, having been extra busy recently…
Just confirming that app-select works now with icon themes other than Papyrus, such as Adwaita and ROX…
