      Following a fresh install, first GUI login and establishing a network connection I rebooted my laptop. After the usual boot sequence there was only a black screen for about two minutes followed by terminal login prompt. In order to reach to GUI login screen I have to enter $ sudo slimski
      Your help will be appreciated.

        If this is a new installation, maybe then is better to do re-installation without LVM.

          Thank you, but LVM is not in use. I checked however the logs (see below):

          envlang received as: en_US.UTF-8
          slimski: waiting for X server to begin accepting connections

          Giving up.
          slimski: unable to connect to X server
          slimski: waiting for X server to shut down

          If I start slimski from terminal I get straight to the GUI login.
          $ sudo slimski

            Try to install xserver-xorg-legacy via tty and then edit /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config file as

            allowed_users = anybody

            so that you can launch X as regular user.

            startx

            ##########################

            Edit: Of course you can try to start X via tty without intalling anything.

            startx /usr/local/bin/desktop-session rox-icewm

              This may be unrelated, but my Dell mini tower desktop refuses to run antiX correctly (mostly the screen does not refresh to show anything more than the menu), if I enable auto-login. If I disable auto-login, antix runs fine, I tried out several antiX versions, even 17.X, that does not use Slimsky, and I always had that same bug.
              Did you, by any change, enable auto-login during your install process? Note that I get the same bug even if the user field is automatically filled when starting the log-in GUI. To use my system normally I always have to type my user name and password, at slimsky (in this computer, and I installed several antiX versions on multiple computers and never had any problem).

              P.

                Thank you for your suggestions. I forgot to mention few things:
                – I am using zzz-icewm;
                – autologin is disabled;
                – If I disable WiFi I get straight to the GUI login screen after a reboot – no issue at all;
                – If WiFi is enabled the reboot results in a CLI login prompt after at least 2 minutes and I can reach GUI login via $ sudo slimski
                log errors (see my previous post)

                  So this is most probably a wi-fi driver problem. since usually those are included in the kernel itself, try installing a more modern kernel (like 6.2) and boot into it.

                    Thanks, but I installed MX-Fluxbox with the same 5.x kernel and there is no problem at all.
