::Yes, but it’s not only the kernel. The driver nvidia-legacy-340xx-driver isn’t in the repository of bullseye edition from debian.
https://packages.debian.org/de/sid/nvidia-legacy-340xx-driverantiX21 is bullseye, antiX19 is buster, you could try ,
but what is with the nouveau driver.Does it not work ?November 13, 2021 at 3:27 am #70865Memberblackwood
::the video quality is really bad in comparison, problems with display sync and frame drops, just generally bad playback experience…
do you suggest i install antix19 instead?

::Support-End 2022-07 (LTS-End) (2024)
These are the dates for support for buster.It’s up to you.It’s a pity old graphic cards always lose support so quickly.

::It seems you are not dual-booting. Isn’t it possible to boot in bios- mode on the laptop.
Because it sounds like the problems with the nvidia-driver are only in efi mode, if I understand the howtos correctly.November 13, 2021 at 4:05 am #70873Memberblackwood

::i still get “No controller” found on “backlight-brightness”
The problem with the backlight is described in the arch-wiki.
There’s also no opengl 3D-rendering.
I was a little surprised that the nvidia 340 driver is still installed by the nvidia installer on antiX21, but it looks like mx-developer and antiX have an in-house 340-legacy driver for bullseye.
Unfortunately, this does not work properly with your card.November 13, 2021 at 4:17 am #70875Memberblackwood

::You are using sgfxi from tty as it needs no driver loaded to install. From your desktop ctrl+alt+F1 or F2 then ctrl+alt+F4 to come back to the desktop after installing driver.
One thing with sgfxi if you have already installed a driver from some where else it will error. You need to removed the installed driver completely first.
Their is bumblebee-nvidia driver too but something I have never really understood is switching drivers on linux getting it to use nvidia and not nouveau.
One other thing if you install the nvidia-legacy driver 340 make sure you install the complete package there not auto installed sometimes with the driver.Hope you get there.

::>Is the system fully updated.
yes>Why unable ?
the driver installer is acting strange, not displaying available driver name that are available… like it just saysavailable from main repo:
currently installed:weird…
but currently all my previous issues are solved, backlight brightness is working and i think hardware acceleration is working too
