Thanks again for the replies. I’ve just rebooted & everything is OK. I have no explanation, the only I can think is this:

I know antiX seldom requires a restart… but after doing some system wide change, like changing the audio system, it’s better to reboot, and then check if everything works…

Off course, in this case, I didn’t change the audio system. I installed another version of OS & it worked properly not in the first boot, but only after a reboot.

I also ran an update & dist-upgrade, rebooted again, & still everything is OK.

A script for helping to make a diagnose.

Thanks. I suppose it helps to make a diagnose when the problem exists, not retrospectively, when everything seems to work well, like now. I post the output for “Audio Capture devices”:

Hi andfree, good sound now works.
Hope you will enjoy the new antiX beta as much as I do,
I find it a huge improvement over older versions.

            Just a couple of tips,
If you change icewm settings in preferences they do not stick immediately,
you can restart the wm with the command icewm –restart, same goes for manually
            adding toolbar icons.

I assume the other window managers work in a similar manner, I only use and support
            my favorite desktop Rox ICEWM.

            As ppc pointed out
Some updates run a post installation script on next boot, in most cases that will call
dpkg reconfigure, I assume that was needed in your case.
