      Hello,
At the beginning of my use of Antix, all the sounds worked well, but for a few days, I cannot ear nothing coming from Internet. The sound of the computer itself runs perfectly.
Could you help me to solve this problem ?
Thanks an sorry for my bad English !

Let us know what this says

            apt-cache policy firefox-esr

            Then

            inxi -Fxr

I take it nothing is muted in alsamixer and you are not using a pulse audio required version of firefox instead of the one that came with AntiX.

Edit: Just more of a hand up. Check online for your computer hot keys. You might have accidentally killed the volume with just a bad key stroke or a errant kitty cat walking across your keyboard while your gear was on. I have seen strange things since my journey into learning how computers work and how to troubleshoot them. As my other posts in other threads show. Like a bad SD card tied in with a modified /etc/fstab was killing my shutdown.

2nd Edit: I need a break. I just remembered you said sound works on everything else. So a hot key is not the problem. Still need those readouts though.

              Last.

              Open Firefox.
Go to Help on the taskbar
Pick ‘ restart with addons disabled ‘

Let it restart. Did sound come back in Firefox?

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

I just solved my problem :As I used Antix for the first time, it said that my browser was out of date … I install the latest version ( nor ESR, the 60. … in my opinion )
and I did not notice that just after that the sound disappeared all at once …!
I re-install the old version and it’s ok now .
I can say the problem is solved but also that its not desirable to change the Firefox installed, at least for a new bee like me !
                    Thanks !

That is one way to fix it, but the new Firefox versions run much better since they support multithreading and are more secure, etc. See my FIX for modern Firefoxes that require Pulseaudio under “Tips and Tricks” titled “Howto play sound w/Firefox Quantum & ALSA W/O Pulseaudio:” or the more recent post by another user entitled: “Sound in Web-Browsers without Pulseaudio”.

                      Regards,

                      Jim
