      Hello,
I have an HP Mini 2233, it’s working fine with a special kernel. I succeed to make sound work on both speakers and headset. But I don’t know what I did but for now It’s only working in the headset.
The following page helped me to make it work: https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/audio_intel_hda

Any idea how to make it work again with the speaker and the headset?

      Thank you
      Lafricain

        Hi,

        What linux distro is installed?

I found a reference to an HP Mini 2133, but not for the 2233. What are its specifications (CPU, on board memory, storage, sound card, etc)?

What did you actually do (based on the Ubuntu page) to make the speakers and headset work?

If you are using Antix Linux, did you look at the settings in alsamixer; if you have the Contol Centre, does it have a tool for choosing the sound card in hardware?

          Hello stevesr0,
I use a special edition of antix linux 19 for the hp mini. For the speaker I just modified the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add this line options snd-hda-intel model=mobile position_fix=1 according of what is written on the page. It was working. The chipset is AD194A. But now it’s only working with the headset. I tried with alsamixer but I didn’t succeed.

          Thank you!

            Hi,

First, I need to declare that I am only a permanent newbie about all things (including linux).

However, I will offer the following comments anyway.
            (1) Be aware that if your headphones are USB connected, they have their own separate sound card from the internal speakers’ card.
            (2) If you have the antiX “control centre” application installed, there is a tool under “Hardware” to select the sound card to use and to test to see if it works.
            (3) If #2 doesn’t work, and you haven’t tried launching ALSAMIXER as root, you might try that and see if you can switch the sound cards listed with F6.

If none of those enable you to switch back and forth (or you want sound to come SIMULTANEOUSLY) from the headphones and the PC speakers, I suggest (a) you look at this guide which you MIGHT find helpful: https://alsa.opensrc.org/MultipleCards and
            (b) to be prepared to provide as much detail about what you actually have on your system and what you changed, SO THAT the KNOWLEDGEABLE people on the forum might look, see something they could readily and easily fix and help you <g>.
(When I say more details, I mean the contents of your alsa-base.conf file and the response to the aplay -L command. You say that your install is a special version of AntiX-19 for the HP Mini. Neither of my full antiX installs (17 and 19) have an alsa-base.conf file.)

If you solve your problem, please post that so it can be marked as solved. This helps others looking for similar problems that were solved.

If not, post again with what happened and what additional questions you have.
