Hi friends!
There’s an app that I want to use that requires systemd, but antiX does not have systemd. Is there a workaround or do I just install another linux distro that has systemd ?
Thank you!

::In short – there is no way to run an app that depends on systemd in antiX, as far as I know
More elaborate answer: yes you can do it- if you have the source code of the app and technical skills to adapt it to run on other init systems (like the ones available in antiX).
So, if you are a regular computer user, just double boot into another system that includes systemd – MxLinux (and it’s
lighter version that uses the Fluxbox Window Manager does include a way to boot with systemd enabled).Edit: if you computer has enough resources, you can install a virtual system software, like VirtualBox. Qemu, etc and install a systemd OS inside it and then install the app you require inside it – without the need of leaving antiX

::Hi kaye other readers,
Please give helpers enough information to make informed answers.
PPC gave good advice but if the package you want is not too obscure, maybe someone has a solution already.If it seems like it may be useful to enough users maybe someone will see if system d is a hard depend or
just a dev disregarding users needs.Sad because Called Debian the universal operating system but only suggesting to developers that they may
consider support for other init systems. A lot are still rowing potterings d bloat boat.For a help request
Post antiX Version 32 or 64 bit, kernel version too, then like below.
After sudo apt update sudo apt full-upgrade I tried to install application using sudo apt install xyz
Error message was missing dependancys xxxyyyzzzz.If another install method was tried give similar details.
Sometimes systemd is set as a dependancy within the deb but it is not needed. I have run in to that a few times.
It is possible to open, inspect and when possible, after an edit repack debs with dpkg.December 8, 2022 at 4:29 pm #95167Forum Admin

::Install a Debian live image if wanting systemd is what I would do.
Just easier. I removed apt pinning in one of my testing installs and proceeded to watch upgrade break /usr/local/bin to where antixcc was unusable.
