I think the team of Antix Linux should to put a notification center in the tray. The last and the news notifications must appear when click and remove that what we don’t want. Thanks in advance!

Hmm, would it be preferable to place its icon on the left side of the RecycleBin tray icon or the right side ?

In a recent antixforum topic, someone (multiple people) recommended dunst as a notifier daemon.

When I compared the available notifiers, my fave (based on features, appearance, and runtime memory overhead) was mate-notifier-daemon

Do you have a favorite notifier to recommend?

sorry I don’t! choose that ones what you most like and that be light. I would be happy with the best and light for Antix

angel7 – it’s spelled antiX. Notice the capitalization is the X not the A.

The user, you, can add the notifications to the panel/taskbar as you wish. Go ahead and do it if you want. I don’t use them and it saves me the trouble of removing them if the devs were to include them by default.

Okaybut, even if another notifier gets pre-installed in a future antiX distribution
(another, as in, we already have “notify-osd” IIRC)

…it probably would not be autostarted, per the as-shipped default configuration, because it would be regarded as “bloat”. I am mentioning this because I recommended including ClipIt clipboard manager in the antiX Full Edition. The devs did include it, but it is NOT autostarted by default (a user would need to explore menu and discover it, and decide whether it is something they care to have continually running).

I think that’s true of most stuff. “Stuff” takes overhead and some of us don’t want to pay that price. It’s okay with me either way. I’ll just disable what I don’t want and add what I do want. That’s the way antiX works.

I do understand the requests to add this or that. We all have our preferences and prefer some stuff over other stuff. I just think it’s as reasonable to request that some stuff NOT be added as it is for some stuff to be added. Just my opinion. Like I said, I don’t really mind it either way. Go ahead. Add more stuff. I’ll modify my copy as needed.
