Hi everyone! Hope you’re all having a nice life! 🙂
I’m having this issue with an external USB hdd. I keep getting this error in spacefm “ntfs-3g-mount: failed: device or resource busy”. I installed ntfs-3g to no avail.
inxi -D shows this ID-3: /dev/sdb type: USB vendor: Seagate model: Backup+ SL size: 931.51 GiB
lsblk shows this
db 8:16 0 931,5G 0 disk /media/Seagate
└─sdb1 8:17 0 931,5G 0 part
Any help/advice is much appreciated. Thanks!- This topic was modified 3 years, 11 months ago by tolken.

I think we need more info. Without knowing enough, I suggest:
A) Try to access the device through ROX filer instead of spacefm.
B) Go to the antiX control Center > Disks > Mount Connected DevicesA quick forum search for the word “ntfs” brought me to a very recent and interesting answer by skidoo about how antiX automounts devices. You may find your answer there.
Also a post with a possible solution may be found here, where the poster follows many different steps to access his internal HDD that does not automount (I understand yours is an external USB HDD, but maybe you can find smething useful here). Also, a quick search in youtube brought me to this video by dolphin_oracle.
antiX 13.2 – SpaceFM – SpaceFM tricks
Here he shows a quick way to access udevil.conf from spacefm. It is not entirely related to the question, and it is a bit dated, but it may be useful.Next time, remember to specify what antiX version you are using, a bit of info about your device, and all the steps (as close as possible to exact steps) you followed that lead to the problem (example “1. I connect the device, 2. I open spacefm, 3. I right-click on the device in the device-pane and select mount” or whatever steps you have followed), and all things you have tried until now.

Thanks for your answer. Well, I did search for “ntfs” before posting but no results showed up, althought I think I only search in this “new users” section, so maybe that’s why. Antix’s version is 17.2, The drive works just fine in MX-18 and Windows, it seems to mount but no files are shown, nor in spacefm neither in rox filer. I connected the device, a windows (thumbs) popped up, showing some icons and txt files, I opened spacefm and tried to access the disk, got the “ntfs-3g-mount” error message, tried a spacefm root window same result. I installed some ntfs packages like ntfs-config but nothing worked. This is the first time this happens, I mean, I tried many distros and none of them have given this problem, I don’t know what this is about. The problem seems to be with the ntfs filesystem only since flash drives work.

::Hi! Thanks for your answer. I figured it out. I managed to mount the drive and access its contents via manual mounting. I mounted the drive in /mnt and it worked 🙂 That was the only thing I hadn’t tried and I thought I might try and luckily it worked, read only though, so that’s another thing I have to figure out now.
