::First findings on antiX 19.3 with nvidia driver installed as described above:
SpaceFM isn’t able to start anymore (so make sure not to chose this program as window manager in boot menu, otherwise you will not be able to reach GUI. Booting to ROX instead works fine. I tried to gather more information and started spaceFM from terminal window. Please see the results of the examination I performed, I tried to fix it by linking to one of the existing libraries, but all in vain: spaceFM comlains about the missing symbol “vdp_device_create_x11” now.

OK, but what exactly is missing now after installing the graphics driver?
I am at my wits’ end. Any Ideas?

Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

::Is there might any hint in Xorg.log ? I dont own a 304.nvidia-card, so can not track the whole thing, too.

::Thanks, caprea. Here is the content of Xorg.0.log. Do you see anything strange inside? Not me, but this is probably merely because I don’t know what to look for exactly.

All these are not able to start, and when trying to start them from commandline they throw the same errormessage as spacefm does also.

::The Xorg.log did nothing now, there are errors, which should never be the case, but it seems that they are really not relevant.
What i wonder about is where the nvidia-legacy-304xx-vdpau-driver seems to have put the libvdpau_nvidia.so.304.137.
Namely under /usr/lib/vdpau/libvdpau_nvidia.so.304.137,
but it should not be therehttps://packages.debian.org/de/stretch/i386/nvidia-legacy-304xx-vdpau-driver/filelist
What also puzzles me is the result of
$ sudo find / -iname "libvdpau.so.*" /media/antiX/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libvdpau.so.1.0.0 /media/antiX/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libvdpau.so.1on the live-stick, why /media/antiX ?
It really looks like a symlink error, but it is quite confusing. even more so if you are not sitting in front of it.March 30, 2021 at 4:24 pm #56626MemberRobin
::You are right about the wrong /media/antiX location, I’ve just checked it. These entries source from the 17.4.1 hdd install of antiX residing on this computer only. Since nothing else showed up I have erroneously taken them for the correct ones.

::OK, many thanks @caprea for trying to help
I had to learn finally there is a difference between reinstalling and reinstalling a package:
apt-get remove libvdpau1 && apt-get install libvdpau1fails, whereas
apt-get install --reinstall libvdpau1did the job flawlessly: this way libvdpau1 was reinstalled finally (even if it was reportedly installed already) and now all the programs including spacefm do work again.Next problem found:
Touchpad can’t get deactivated anymore:$ synclient touchpadOFF=1 bash: synclient: Kommando nicht gefunden. $ command -v synclient $ ldd /usr/bin/synclient ldd: /usr/bin/synclient: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden $ apt-cache search synclient xserver-xorg-input-synaptics - Treiber für das Synaptics TouchPad für den X.Org-Server $ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-input-synaptics xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Installiert: (keine) Installationskandidat: 1.9.1-1 Versionstabelle: 1.9.1-1 500 500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian buster/main i386 PackagesSo simply the xserver touchpad package was missing and was in need to get reinstalled also.

$ syndaemon -i 2 -dworks also.
I didn’t come across anything else not working by now. Will report here if I’d find any additional pitfall left.
