While rebuilding my newest, 12 year old computer I decided to fit an NVMI drive.
As the board had no dedicated slot for NVME I needed to buy an adapter, my choice
Sabrent M.2 SSD to PCIe X16 X8 X4 card, this is inexpensive and comes with a heat
sink, cooling pads and a mini screwdriver for assembly. But no decent instructions.

4 Screws hold the assembly together. I needed 2 thin pads under my drive, the thick
one on top. I degrased contact areas, removed protective foil from both sides of the
pads and fitted them without touching conductive surfaces. Put some non conductive
arctic paste between case cover and back of circuit board. Reassembled ensuring
the correct locating of the circuit board.

Fitted to an 8X slot. Did an antiX install.

After a few weeks boot failed and the read write speeds became abbyssimal. Did some
tests then contacted the seller Grilox eu, (They are actualy in USA) explaining the
situation and detail of how I had determined the adapter had failed. Service was
helpful and sent me a replacement.
Reformatted the drive, it now reads and writes as it should.
Can recommend the seller and product.

I had fitted and installed antiX on an SSD in the meantime. That will remain my
boot drive and the NVME replace a 1TB spinning storage disk.

Changing a drive without data loss is somewhat involved, plenty of info to be found
with a quick metager search from Librewolf.

Plugging an excellent browser and meta search engine….
