Where can I find older i386 versions of Firefox above v52, compiled by Debian as .deb?
At http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/f/firefox-esr/ only a few older versions are available.

I would like to use antiX 21 with the older Firefox 60.6.1 esr, which comes with antiX 17.4.1 Full and runs nicely on my non-SSE2 650MHz Pentium 3 laptop . Thanks for any help!

probably impossible to use a pre-existing .deb package because the program would have been compiled for use with an earlier version of libc….. so try to locate a flatpak bundle or appimage bundle for firefox 60.6.1 esr i386

What’s keeping you from running antix 17.4.1 and apt pinning Firefox so it doesn’t upgrade?

I agree. Some hardware is no longer supported or effective with current generation software. On one side, security will be out of date; I wouldn’t do anything that would compromise personal and private information, but if you at least want to browse, this alternative should work.

If it were me, I would have to be so careful online with an ancient Firefox that I probably wouldn’t get more from the old firefox than I would from simply running links2 in graphical mode. I would probably have to disable javascript for one thing. And I think the antiX version of links2 is in graphical mode by default. So – probably not much gained by going this route.

I moved the digression of this topic to the thread: “Split Firefox topic for alternate browsers and other discussion”.

This topic is finished unless there is more to talk specifically about older versions of Firefox.

If you want to continue the diverted topic, that one has already gone in a couple of directions, so it can be a continued topic.
Otherwise, open a new topic with a specific name and topic content.

                Thanks!
