Hi, and thank you for your wonderful work!
I have this issue with Opera 104: it cannot play any video on Facebook (they show an error message instead).
This issue used to be solvable until Opera 102 by replacing libffmpeg.so with one extracted from the corresponding Chromium version, but since 103 replacing libffmpeg renders Opera unusable (it shows a message that it needs a package called “Glibc 2.38”, which is way ahead the version in Bookworm).
I have found no valid solution. It would be wonderful if I could find here somebody knowledgeable enough to can help me about it.
Thanks!November 12, 2023 at 4:55 pm #123304MemberPPC
::Glibc
I think that package depends on the version of the OS itself, it can’t be easily updated, or by updating to a more recent version of the OS.
So, my advice? Try Opera 104 on an antiX 23 (or 23.1 beta/RC) Live pendrive and see if it works… If it does… I guess it’s time to backup your stuff and update antiX.Personal note: I’m opposed to using social media, but that’s my own problem with lack of privacy… Using closed source Web browsers, like Opera (that has suspicious policy regarding privacy) further endangers your personal data. But, hey, it’s data, give it away to anyone you want, it can be Facebook, Google or China, I don’t care…

::Taking a look at https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/glibc shows
th GliBC vwersion you are quoting is a package in Debian Experimental branch.If you really want to use opera, a rather dubious chromium based browser you could
run a live stick updated to Experimental, which may, as an inexperienced
user give you some headaches.I vastly improved my farce book spyware experience, long ago, after a few seconds
I de installed it

::Thank you! I just followed the procedure and Opera can play html5 contents now! I came by Widevine for tens of times in the last several years, but never tried it. It works wonderful and it seems that it can automatically mend opera package on updates.
Thank you! Issue is solved now. - AuthorPosts
