      Hello,

I did a fresh install of antiX-21 full (SysVinit). In Synaptic, I noticed remaining config files of removed package connman-iptables.

Is it safe to purge them or will this break connman?

Is my question too stupid to answer?

I guess that /etc/default/connman will be deleted and don’t want to end without internet connection.

On my antiX-sid I have no connman-iptables installed, just connman and connman-gtk. Internet via fritz.box is working fine.
If your network is working without connman-iptables, then you do not need config-files for connman-iptables.

In general: Rename a file in order to check, if you need it. If that causes problems, rename the file back to its original name.

If you want to check the result of a package removal, you can simulate the removal with
          # apt purge -s <name of that package>

Because I’ve just looked and yes there are some leftovers from connman-iptables, I removed them completely and it was indeed a little spooky. After reboot connman couldn’t connnect to cmst, all settings in cmst were blank and lost.
It was possible to resolve here on the fast way by using the antiX-wifi-switcher, password was gone and so on.I wouldn’t recommend to delete them, it didn’t break connman, though.

This happened to me, too, on three different laptops, after having run “apt-get dist-upgrade” & “apt autoremove”, that removed connman-iptables.

This “fast way” (using the antiX-wifi-switcher to switch from connman to ceni) solved the problem for all the three laptops. Many thanks.

Switching to Ceni is a way to get back wifi connection, but it’s not a solution to this problem.

Connman with cmst is the default network manager in antiX-21 and should not depend on remaining config files of removed packages.

No need to switch to Ceni. You can use antiX-wifi-switcher to choose connman again. I think this is what caprea meant as “fast way”, and not to switch to Ceni. It works for me every time that connection is lost, for any reason. Sorry that I haven’t clarified it earlier.

Thanks andfree, that’s what I was waiting for.
