Package Manager not working
I notice a strange behavior of the package manager. Once it a while it is simply not possible to install a package.
Lets take the non-free codecs as an example. In most of the machines I install Antix on it works flawlessly, however, sometimes the package manager just updates quickly followed by a pop-up, asking me to exit the manager yes or no.
If I afterwards look closely I noticed that nothing was installed. This also happens to other packages such as wine-staging etc.I was reading those articles first:
https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/antix-21-software-installer-not-working/
https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/package-installer-now-does-not-work-at-least-for-me/Actions taken:
inxi -r (shows that all seems to be normal)
sudo passwd root (did not help)
sudo apt –reinstall install package installer (did not help)
sudo apt dist-upgrade (did not help – just installed conman which was held back in the apt-repos)What could the problem cause?
Thanks for your help
Cheers

::Sounds like you are talking about Package Installer. We sure don’t know much about what you are running, but I’ll give a guess…
1. Run the updater from the menu, antiX >> Applications >> antiX >> antiX Updater
2. Try installing the package you want from Synaptic, menu, antiX >> Control Centre >> Software tab >> Manage PackagesIf you get any errors, take a print screen of the error and post it here or via imgur

::if there are any errors during an “apt-get update” package installer may exit. although I would think you would see that in the console output.

::Thanks for your message, unfortunately that did not help. In order to show you what I am talking about here some pictures.
I refer to the package installer. I just tried to install the non-free codecs once more. It just does the apt update and after a few seconds it asks me to leave yes/no, without doing anything. No idea why.September 25, 2022 at 5:02 pm #89771ModeratorBobC
::Did you notice a black screen that flashed and error and went away? I did.
I can’t fix the problem, but I think this is the cause:
$ sudo apt install libdvdcss2 w64codecs Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libdvdcss2 : Depends: libc6 (>= 2.33) but 2.31-13+deb11u4 is to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.September 25, 2022 at 5:23 pm #89774MemberModdIt
::https://packages.debian.org/de/bullseye/amd64/libdvdcss2 says libdvdcss2 w64codecs is a virtual package provided by libdvd-pkg.Please do sudo apt update && sudo apt install libdvd-pkg
You may need to do apt clean or even a purge to get a clean
install.Package manager is a really nice tool but can get caught out by
upstream or packaging changes.- This reply was modified 7 months, 2 weeks ago by ModdIt.

::This is a bug in the package installer nonfree package list.
A fixed deb should arrive soon.Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

::Hamster, I see the package has been updated (thanks anticapitalista).
Run the updater like I said before, and then try the Package Installer again.
