      Hi,
anticapitalista and the rest of the Dev Team- Is it possible to add xfdashboard to the antiX 21 repo?

I downloaded xfdashboard’s .debs from from:
      http://mxrepo.com/mx/testrepo/pool/test/x/xfdashboard/

It’s already packaged by mx-linux, and I tested it in antiX 21 (64bits) and it runs fine.
It requires xfdashboard_0.8.1-1~mx21 for 32/64 bits and libxfdashboard0_0.8.1-1~mx21+1 for32/64, but having also xfdashboard-plugins_0.8.1-1~mx21+1_ 32/64 bits would be great!

Note: xfdashboard is already included in antiX’s 19 repos, and works great out of the box! Edit: nope- it seems it’s only on mx’s repo only!!! (see following posts)

      Many thanks in advance,

      P.

Are you sure? I don’t see it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

I assumed so… I think I never messed with the Repos and it installed with “sudo apt install xfdashboard” in antiX 19.X, 64 bits, without any problems… but… then again, I just checked out my repos and it seems I have mx repo and mx test-repo enabled for some reason- I must have done it long ago. I knew I had google chrome’s repo enabled (from my Chrome days) but now I noticed I also had something called “madlinux” enabled- and I have no idea at all why, maybe something I installed from sourceforge?…
I’ve been using xfdasboard for the last couple of days and it seems to run fine, both in antiX 19.X and 21 (but I’ve not played with it much, since I’ve been busy)

Sorry for the bad info – it seems the package is not available on the official antiX repos, not even in antiX 19’s… But it’s a handy little package and seems to run fine in both versions of antiX – in my little free time, I’m testing it as a replacement for skippy-xd (as a graphical window switcher with real time previews).

Xfdashboard is something that confused me when I saw it running – it’s not just a window switcher, it also allows to manage windows on all workspaces (users can drag and drop windows from one work space to another)- that was exactly the feature that FT10 was lacking… But I found out it also is a menu, with categories, app search, and even a dock on the left side (a la MX linux), where you can see icons for currently running windows and pin them (or pin any favourite you want there). For some reason someone though the world needed a “all in one Window” switcher / workspace manager / start menu / dock

In antiX 19,X it used little more than 5mb of disk space and I think it does not stay resident in RAM by default – so it can be used on systems with very little resources, even, for example, if you are into Tiling Window Managers but require, for some reason the use of a GUI no move windows between workspaces, etc (for example, you hurt your hand and can’t easily use key combos to switch windows/workspaces, etc). for common flaoting window managers users, that don’t quite grasp how to use virtual workspaces, this is a big help, and may open a few windows for them (pun intended).

Xfdashboard is not perfect – skippy-xd looks much better, but it’s much more limited (only manages currently running windows).

I added the debs to the repos (antiX-17, antiX-19 and antiX-21)

@anticapitalista – Many thanks for adding the package to the antiX repo!
Only today I tested installing xfdashboard on my single remaning antiX 19 (64bits) that still does not have it installed. The package is in the repository, but when I tried to install it, I got the error that it had a dependency “libxfconf-0-3 (>= 4.6.0)” that was not installable… It this easily fixable (I mean, is it just a matter of adding that package to the repo?)
If it’s too much trouble it’s not worth it, I don’t want to burden you with one more problem…

              P.
