Hi Everyone,
packageinstaller (in Control Centre) is unstable in antiX 21. Sometimes it installs a package, sometimes not. It has nothing to do with the particular package I check off and try to install, and it has nothing to do with my repo setup, which is the default. My repos works just fine. I have no issues with “apt install.”
Sometimes, at random, after “packageinstaller” has completed its initial “apt-get update” it skips the “Installing packages” screen and instead goes straight to the final popup message asking “Do you want to exit the package installer.” Every time this happens, nothing has been installed, and this behavior probably happens more than 80% of the time when I use packageinstaller. Any other way of installing packages works fine.
Any ideas?
Sincerely,
Lars.- This topic was modified 1 year, 5 months ago by lgj100.

::wine, latex-full, vlc,…and it is not that they don’t install. It is that it is random whether they install or not. If I try enough times (5-10) they may install.

::I’ve had similar problems when trying to install several programs, first and foremost Gimp (both basic and full failed), but there was a screen recorder that didn’t install, and I think Shotwell didn’t install either. This was after doing a clean vanilla install of the full 32-bit version. Installed the programs through Synaptic without any problems.

::I recently did my first antiX 21 install, on a 32 bits laptop (I used the default non runnit version) and, when trying to use P.I. to install several packages, I noticed that some did not install (the terminal window popped closed very fast).
I noticed also that trying to install several packages at at the same time was prone to failure, so, it’s best to install one by one…
Since I was trying to install many packages, I took a while to notice that P.I. was not installing everything, so sorry I did not take detailed notes:
– Installing LO latest full and then the PT language pack worked
– Installing the non free codecs did not work (but the package seemed to install fine from the cli, but I have not tested playing any video file)
– Since I was, for the first time on this device, having wi-fi problems (the wi-fi usb dongle quit working sometimes, although the connection seemed fine, and only restarted working after unplugging and plugging it again) I tried to install a newer Kernel (sorry, don’t recall which one) – the terminal window opened and closed very fast,,,P.
