::Gadzooks I found the ‘demo’ password and fixed the Grub.
Now, how to connect to the internet modem upstairs with CENI. Has an eth0 hardware intrface, which probably needs a connection.
Lacking a USB WiFi plug – I have my Galaxy tablet running the Android OS with a USB cable.
Suggestions?

Good news. You found a way to resolve the Grub problems.
Now, how to connect to the internet modem upstairs with CENI. Has an eth0 hardware intrface, which probably needs a connection.
If the computer has a wifi device but it is not working, share with us:
inxi -Nxxx
if it is a USB adapter, you can also share
lsusbIf it shows a driver working, then you need to enable wifi. If on antiX 19.3, use Menu > Applications > antiX wifi switch and select ceni. If the wifi connection was blocked, it will start it. Hopefully you can connect to the wifi without having to troubleshoot the device.
If on a previous version of antiX 19.2 or lower), first enable wifi with connman and use it to connect t your wifi.
See if this video helps:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Ryp4gM2Eg&feature=emb_title
Update your system and then use the same antix-wifi-switch program to change to ceni, if you still want to use ceni.antiX Live system enthusiast.

::Hi Xecure,
The HP Laptop had a WiFi modem, but this somewhat newer HP Desktop does not.
So, I’m trying to cobb together an Internet connection thru my Galaxy IV, which is the device on which I’m answering your post.
The now antiX HP has no WiFi device – but it sees the Galaxy on one of the USB ports – so how to connect to it as my WEB bridge until I get an ethernet cable, or USB stick is the question of the day.
Advice gladly followed . . .

::Aaaaaah! Ok now I understand. Sorry for the wrong advice.
I am not sure if it will work on the same way for your phone, but on my android phone I needed to search for an option named something similar to “Share connection through USB”.
See these instructions from a different post:
1. I made sure connman was running (you should see a corresponding icon in the systemtray). If it isn’t active, Launch it from the COntrol Centre or from App Select (search for connman). Make sure it is running.
2. I connected my phone (Android 9 phone) using a USB cable to the laptop running antiX 19.2.1 base.
3. On my mobile device, I activated “share my connection through USB” (in my language; it probably means “USB Tethering”) in the corresponding section found in “Settings”.
4. After activating it, suddenly my system has internet connection! Success without expecting it at all!Remember that the phone needs give access to transfer files and data (not USB charging).
Let me know if you cannot find the option. Give me the phone model and android version.

::On the android device side, the options should be on the configurations (usually the “gears” icon) > connections (the wi-fi” icon) > “Tethering & portable hotspot” > “usb thethering”
Follow the steps shown here: https://screentimelabs.com/help/connect-to-the-internet-through-usb/ (the pictures may help you find the correction options on the android menu)On my android 10 device I had some trouble with USB debuging (which is active on my phone) , that warning would keep popping up on the device and not let the button that allowed the connection to be shared “stick” to the “on” position. I simply disconnected the cable from the device, reconnected and tried again, with success.
As Xecure noted, on the antiX side the connection should be automatically detected by connman (the default network manager)…

::Hey Dawgs,
My Galaxy gets as far as step #4 and then:
Nearby Devuces
(Tablet) PFO
Share your media files using WiFi, WiFi-direct, or mobile hotspot.BUT the lettering is lite gray color and I cannot select it.
When I changed the name of the device to my initials PFO to stop confusion with an identical Galaxy, I suspect it screwed-up the Android OS and that is why it doesn’t allow access.
HOWEVER, what a great point to depart to the real question of the day:
WHY DON’T I JUST INSTALL antiX ON THE GALAXY???
I’ve turned off most of the GULAG PROGRAMS and would like to trash the ANDROID OS and keep the superior Japanese hardware!!!
How do I wipe-format-load-enjoy antiX???

::Maybe you can try to change name of device back to original. Not familiar with that device.
XDA Developers is best place to ask with android specific questions. Maybe samsung forum.Galaxy TAB4 SM-T230NU Android 4.4.2 How do I wipe-format-load-enjoy antiX
Unfortunately it is not that easy, antiX for android/ARM processor devices does not exist.
Even if it did the boot loader is most likely locked.
Best to take a look over at XDA site to see if it is rootable and if any alternatives have been
developed for the device you own.Samsung gulag, you can escape much of that using adb to turn off or remove apps for the user.
On the version of android you have the only way to block most of the calling home is use PI
hole on a wlan. On device blockers need a virtual VPN. That came with I think it was android 7.superior Japanese hardware!!! Samsung is South Korean.

::This got me curious and I tried my old tabled (SM-T230)- it, in fact, does not display any “hotspot or tethering option”.
My tablet, despite being some 5 or 6 years old remains stuck on android 4.4.1 – and I had to perform root to disable to android lock that did not let me directly save files to the sd card (and then I removed the unroot)- this old machine fits my “if it still works, keep it” mentality – it’s an almost perfect machine to read my pdf documents.
I use it to run adobe pdf reader, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Firefox (and, gasp, Google chrome), VLC media player, Kindle and a nice file manager that even mounts cloud drives. I also can access my HP printer from this device and print/scan from it… I installed a web conference software I may need to use (but still haven’t tested), I have some open source games (like solitaire, tetris, sudoku, etc) and some games I acquired on promotions and do not run on my android 10 phone…
It still acts like a tiny laptop, with basically everything I need to use on the move (with the sad exception of Collabora Office- android’s LibreOffice port, that does not install on this old device- other than that, it has everything – except a physical keyboard- it lacks OTG support, that was present on older Tab devices).P.

::Hi PPC, some old tabs can share a connection with a developer options setting, I guess you already checked
though..OT here, but with many tabs a bluetooth portable keyboard can be used.
I have one small keyboard from CSL, up to now it works on almost all the devices I have tried it with.
Exception, Rotten fruit ones. Android fine.My tab is an anchient Ployer Momo 11 i imported from China. Case is disentegrating, historic android 4.4.
Excellent HiRes screen. Rarely used now.- This reply was modified 2 years, 5 months ago by ModdIt.

::Hey Dawgs,
Slower HP CeleronM Laptop came home after a week with an Italian friend and now I cant get the Galaxy to mount. Also dont remember how to remount exterior devices with desktop icon.
Trying to mount Galaxy to download data to HP Laptop and then reset Galaxy to factory settings to see if that allows me to use under original name as a WiFi connection to HP Desktop. HP Desktop is faster than the HP Laptop (1.5 Gig Ram vs 500Mg + 2.3 Mhz vs 1.5Mhz processor speed.)
Second problem – Open Office can be found in App Select, but the desktop icon has disappeared and again, I dont know how to create a desktop icon.

Mounting for sharing files or for internet connection?
Also dont remember how to remount exterior devices with desktop icon.
If it doesn’t automount, use Mount Box in the Control Centre > Disks.

Depends on what desktop icon manager you are using (Rox or SpaceFM?). If on ROX, open /usr/share/applications on drag any of the desktop files there to your desktop.
If on SpaceFM, any file you copy to your Desktop folder ill appear on your desktop.
Or are you talking about the menu? Please, clarify.

There is an app in Menu > Applications > antiX, named “Android Device USB Connect”. See if it works. I think all dependencies should be installed.
