I’d like to use this HP for a WEB TV Studio box to allow:
1.) Video Production with +/-4 WEB Cameras.
      2.) Video Editing.
3.) Video Storage for download or viewing over Internet.

A stripped down version of Linux seems to be the best OS without any “MS-Office” style – WEB Browser – Email or other typical installed software. The BOX has only two jobs – make videos – make them available for download or viewing . THAT’s it nothing else.

      With that in mind:
      A. Which version of antiX is ideal for the bare bones OS AND
      B. What linux based software is ideal for making/editing videos?
      C. How do I wipe/clean/erase the corrupted 17.2 version of antiX off
the hard drive and load/install the recommended version?

      Thanx Dawgs,
      PFO

Thanks for posting. Thanks for posting in bold the sse limit your cpu has.

That will help members help you pick a browser for a non-sse2 Pentium 4 cpu.

Only option I can think of this morning for a non-sse2 browser is> antix control center is a menu choice so hit that and go so system>oackage installer

I’d start with a palemoon non-sse2 selection to see how that works out for you first.
< if running 32 bit AntiX only >

You chopped off that readout in inxi. So will fix that by grabbing my pm from you

         inxi -zv7 – Friday, January 17, 2018 – 17:05
        System:
        Host: pfo Kernel: 4.9.126-antix.1-486-smp i686 bits: 32 compiler: gcc v: 6.3.0
Desktop: IceWM 1.4.2 info: icewmtray dm: SLiM 1.3.4
        Distro: antiX-17.2_386-base Helen Keller 4 October 2018
        base: Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)

You are running AntiX 32 bit currently . I guess stay with 32 bit isos with the non-sse2 cpu .

Forgot to mention. In my case. I get a unsigned error when using Steve at MX forum palemoon package. I ignore this warning and install it anyways.
That error is handled on Stevos end so I blow that message off in my mind.
Been procrastinating about starting a thread about that mx forum.

        Lots on my plate.

I mention the above because some world users with non-sse2 have been surviving on Opera 12 for ages now.

As far as Installing over 17.2.

          No need. Just

          sudo apt-get update

          after that is done

          sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Say yes when asked. Let it finish. You are current now n 17.3.

If you just wanna start over anyways with a md5sum checked iso of AntiX 17.3
Just boot the install usb or dvd. Install over previous install. Nothing special. It is going to ask to format the drive anyways.
          Just point it at

          ID-1: / size: 143.71 GiB used: 4.25 GiB (3.0%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/sda1
          label: rootantiX17.1 uuid: f7bae392-2ec7-42a1-a629-9f8198b20d91

and tell the installer to put 17.3 there.
I’ll leave the video editing suggestions to other more knowledgeable members about that subject.

RAM Report: permissions: Unable to run dmidecode. Are you root?

There is no need to worry about that,if you would run inxi as root it would show you your ram-size and some more information about ram, that’s all.

            A. Which version of antiX is ideal for the bare bones OS AND

To me it looks like antiX-base should be your choice, no office, no email-software,no printer-drivers, but chose the latest antiX17.3.1-base.

            C. How do I wipe/clean/erase the corrupted 17.2 version of antiX off
the hard drive and load/install the recommended version?

If you make a new installation on the same partitiones , the old installation will get overwritten during new install.
Otherwise you have to wipe/format the disk with gparted (controlcentre–>storage media–>partitioning of a drive) during live-session.

            B. What linux based software is ideal for making/editing videos?

I have no clue, looks like you need software that can handle multiple cameras simultaneously.Hopefully someone will give you a tip here.

                Hey Dawgs,

Burned an iso of 17.3 base and installed it and . . .
                GADZOOKS IT WORKS whodah thunkit?

FIRST TASK – Camera Mngt. SW
Yes, OBS looks like a good camera mngt. software.
BUT, why can’t I just download something from linuxtv.org that will also manage multiple cameras?
Of course I have no idea what to download & install from linuxtv.org, so your advice gladly taken.

                Thanx Dawgs,

We don’t live by the download when we can after the initial install.sudo apt-get update is a ritual of mine after every Antix install and then once a week after that.
